A very nice F355 showed up at a local official dealer and make me wonder if I should get it.

I do wonder though if the F8 is the garage if I will drive the F355 at all? Yet it is should a beautiful iconic car with magic sound.

Any 458/488/F8 owners also still have a F355 and if so do you drive it?

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I have a 458 Italia and a F355. I drive my F355 more than my Italia because I enjoy it more.

Hey Nat, congrats on your 355. I would have thought a Testarossa would have been your next purchase before a 355.

    Bumping this.

Would a 348 or 355 feel frustratingly slow compared to a 488 or would the experience make that an after thought?

355 is very slow by modern day standards. But it is beautiful and makes a great sound. And if your smart you get the gated shifter that is incredible!

They can be a maintenance nightmare, so be very careful on the one you buy.

Experience will make the speed difference an afterthought. I have faster cars than the 355, but reach for the 355 keys the most often. It’s just a great overall experience. And mine is F1 and I love it.

I think it works if the 355 is a manual and is a targa or full convertible (looks like your 458 is a coupe)....so it can have a different application.

The F355 is a fun car for sure. Gated 6 speed with a tubi exhaust is the way to go. Also the rear challenge grill helps immensely with cooling.

It's not the fastest Ferrari around but it's certainly fun to drive. They are prone to numerous issues and weren't built to the standards of a 458 or even a 360, but still a decent Ferrari. I drove my 355 every day and loved it a lot. Just be careful when the tires are cold, as there are no electronics to save you and if you're not a good driver it's easy to end up with the 355 spinning around your feet like an upset puppy. I nearly wrecked mine twice when the backend decided grip was optional.

But going through a tunnel at redline with a tubi exhaust installed is about as close as you can get to an F1 scream on a street legal car. That exhaust sound is pure magic.

You definitely shouldn't be the type of owner who is alarmed by things falling off the car and/or warnings lights flashing on. I would also suggest all F355 owners keep a few tubes of industrial adhesive around. Owning a MIG or TIG welder is also probably a plus.

I wouldn't get a 348 unless you have a lift in your garage.

The 355 will be slower than the 458 or 488 for sure. However, you can have more fun in the 355 because you can redline the 355 around town and not end up going 120 MPH in 4 seconds, like with the 488. So it's kind of more fun from the "driving a go-cart" angle in a lot of ways.

But as mentioned above, don't get upset when parts fall off the car.
