What'd you guys think? Is it tacky to add them onto an '86 before I PPF the car?

I'm undecided on the look and if I want to keep mine fully original, but I've seen lots of examples online going for top dollar that had them added.

    I love mine!
It's pretty much up to individual owner's choice, the purist will say we they shouldn't have them because it was only put on cars that raced in the past. But now everything coming out of the factory has them, mine are easily removed without blemish should I change my mind.

The Mondial has an image of being the "try to hard" Ferrari because of its relatively low entry price, and the fender badges plays into that theme. As these cars mature and outlive their critics, the sharp body style is distinctive and will never be repeated, and they will mature into true classics with top condition examples being quite valuable. Fender badges will not be part of the longer term car persona, nor will different wheels, steering wheels, etc. but all is reversible (make sure you retain original parts, many which are becoming unobtainable).

As they say, what is the point of saving the cars for the next owners, do what makes you enjoy the ownership experience. And most normal people and kids are awestruck by a Mondial, no one knows what it is and they are scarce sitings these days. Get some magnetic backed badges, and put them on or off as the modd strikes you. I had some Pininfarina fender badges on mine at one point!

I have always admired your wooden steering wheel and shifter knob! I was tempted to do the same, and maybe add some Boranni wire wheels.

No picture of a Mondial with wires, but they have been fitted to 308's...

Image Unavailable, Please Login Since I got fender emblems no one asks me what car I have anymore...before it happened they couldn't tell right away.
The emblems are made of good quality 'plastic' and are glued to the fenders. So, easy to remove.

Might as well, if you're already mounting a big wing on the back.....

Your red stripe looks really good, on a blue which must have been a fairly rare colour choice in period.

That blue depends on the weather...in sunshine she looks very different.

Part of the fun of owning a Ferrari is you get to have cool shields on the fender. They look nice on a Mondial, as well. At least to me. Just get good ones; someone is offering a nice set in this thread that looks good. (You don’t want a set with wrong horse markings or colors)

I bought my shield a few weeks ago. They are genuine Ferrari and brand new and cost about £10 or $14 from Eurospares. Really nice and surprisingly good value for a change unlike the £50 bolts, £1700 under trays, £1100 wheel wells…

How is it possible that the genuine shields are that inexpensive? :) I'm not looking at buying a set, but are you able to share the URL?
