Hyde food. Or if you have a Harley Davidson dealership they used to sell a leather care product that looked like valesine but did a very good job of moisturizing leather. Also water proofed it. I’ll look for both in the garage this week.

    Hi,
I'm sure you have great fun driving it in Switzerland
I've always used Gliptone 'Liquid leather' - a good quality cleaner and conditioner with a great 'new leather smell. I don't know if it's the same as Leatherique but it's probably easier for you to get.

Thank you so much and yes, other than the very restrictive speed limits riding the Mondial through the winding roads of the Swiss Alps is an absolute dream !!

My 88 3.2 Cab is a Swiss model, the original owner broke it in for me in the Swiss Alps! Just curious, do you have a Blaupunkt London stereo as the dealer/factory fitment in that market? fyi on another thread I have been noting a small batch leather product that is not widely used, Claphams, can be mail ordered from Canada. I have had good experience with Leatherique, but it is more of a cleaner/hydrator product than a protectant, which the wax based Claphams does an excellent job on the harder, coated leathers in our Mondials.

Actually it’s a JVC stereo and it works quite well - has blue tooth capability so can stream music from my iPhone which is nice. Thanks for the tip on the leather cleaner. Yes - my Mondial is Swiss “born and raised” and there is nothing more beautiful than zipping through the winding alpine roads with mountains on either side. It’s my therapy !!

The black leather in my 3.2 Mondial was very dry and I have used Lexol Leather deep conditioner and it has done a great job. It readily available on Amazon and comes as a cleaner as well as a conditioner. I only use the conditioner and have found that it pulls enough dirt out for my liking. To really get a deep hydration I apply it direct and spread it with my hand. I find the rag application collect too much conditioner and I want as much as possible on the hide.

Lexol gives my ferrari a saddle shop smell when I open the door. Sometimes I just have to take a minute to go sit in it and just smell the italian hides.

Over time and on various makes with leather seats I've used a number of the mentioned products. I do typically use a cleaner first and then wait 24 hours. For the conditioning I pull the car outside on a sunny day and slather by hand (typically wearing latex gloves) the conditioner into each seat, using 2 applications. I then take a large, plastic garbage bag and cover the seat (generally positioning the seat back forward), roll up the windows and allow the heat that builds to open up the pores of the leather to better accept the conditioner. I try and condition twice a year which ends up as every 9 months or so despite good intentions.

Getting the pores to open and accept the conditioner is key.

    Congrats on your Mondial!

Maybe you want to bring your car to Bernhard Ernst. See here: http://sf-t.ch/

He is very experienced and did the leather in my F-cars and my Maserati.

Great recommendation thank you Markus. Do you know approximately what it would cost to do leather and carpets (so basically the full interior) ??

Difficult / impossible to say without knowing the condition of the interior of your car. The leather in my Maserati 3200 was around CHF 500 but as mentioned the work on your car may be completely different. I would just ask the owner of the shop.
