Jeff, I've got a "How-To article" on fuel pressure testing to confirm proper function of WUR and system pressure and would be happy to loan you my CIS pressure testing kit. The Probst book is pretty good for theory, but the 328 has sortof a "hybrid" K-lambda system - even the factory Bosch FI manual (bright yellow with little horsie) doesn't match what was installed on the car perfectly (!). As others have mentioned, start with the basics (fuel/air/spark); but if the mechanical condition is sound and timing correct I'd personally start with the ignition system and grounds. Unfortunately - and I hate to say this because it sounds discouraging - if the FI baseline setting has been altered you may be contending with that also. They are a few tests listed in the back of the service manual to confirm proper Jetronic ECU function. I have not successfully done it, but others mention "tuning" the mixture to a 50% duty cycle on the frequency valve using the O-2 sensor. Shoot me an email & I'll mail you out a CD-ROM.
