So I've been saving for some time and had enough to buy a 360. Came close on a couple of cars, but never closed a deal.

I'm located in Toronto, Canada, so the market is a bit different than the states.

I recently found a Red 2005 430 F1 Spider in my price range (I should be able to get the car for around $85-87US) from an indie dealer. Car apparently has new tires, good brakes, 70% clutch life remaining. Very nice cosmetic condition.

There are two problems: it's high mileage (45K miles), and there's no service history.

I realize that a PPI is mandatory for this type of purchase.

    Any other advice?

I would not buy this type of car w/o a full service history - it's a must. Plenty of 430s around, so keep looking. Happy hunting - it's a GREAT car!

Carfax it. Take a look at who's been servicing it. Call them up and explain your the new owner and ask for the service records.

Its not high mileage - its nicely used @ 4000 miles per year BUT the service history is a no-no - you need to know that it has been cared for

If you haven't already read back thro some of the 430 buying etc threads here to get a good picture of the model and its foibles

I would guess 45k on an '05 (assuming miles here, not km) is probably above 95th percentile for a 430. My first thought drifts toward rental car. Gotta get the history.
