I would like to know how to remove the cam gears from a stripped down block. There is a bracket with 4 nuts where the cam gear bearings are held but it won't come out.Do I need to remove the 2 circlips first.I'm guessing this is a common proceedure to change the chains.

Are changing the bearings? If not you should be able to split the chain and thread it through with removing the support plate and gears

You can pull them out but you may need a gear puller. If you are this far definitely replace the bearings. Take a zillion pics and mark the gears as the come out because they look remarkably the same and you have to reassemble them correctly. You really have to watch this as they come out. Also be very very careful in removing the plate and the 4 bolts that secure the plate. They go into the cast block and it strips very easily....put a lot of PB blast on it and take your time. Good luck!
