I have a "friend" who thinks that he wants a 360. This "friend" feels that 360 prices are gonna see a little "bump" before they start to fall -- those 430s are gonna be rolling out slower than anticipated and as a result all of this pent up Ferrari demand will have to go somewhere...

Anyway, this "friend" currently has a 355 and he's been offered good $$$ for his current car. He wants to take it, but wants to have a 360 lined up to get in to... Unlike some 355 owners, he's not leaving the F-car family.

ANYWAY, this "friend" knows where all the good sources of cars are. He's been scouring and found a couple of interesting things, but nothing that has really made him jump.

    Ideally, he's looking for:

    Important things:
    - 2001 or Newer 360 Modena
    - F1
    - Capristo or Tubi
    - Black, Silver (Tit., Nurb.) or White
    - 15k service completed

    Not important things:
    - Sport Seats (Not daytonas)
    - Challenge Grill (Front and rear)
    - Red calipers
    - No shields
    - Pop-out roof

    So. Advice.

    - What do you think about my "friends" plan?

    - What else should he be looking for?

    - Does anyone know where such a car exists?

    - Any other advice?

why are you referring yourself as "your friend" :D

well, the way i see it, in a simple way:
if the offer on the 355 is good, take it.

as for finding a 360 in F1, it's should be rather easy. alot to choose from compared to 6sp.

lastly, advise if any, how about a CS :D

See if you. ..er ah..your friend...can get a good price for fishbulb...I mean that black car- right now. If there is a pent up demand for Ferraris, then maybe the 355 can get a better price now. So, get top dollar now for the fcar, then wait till the market drops and buy a 360. Ask an outrageous price for the car, and if no bites, can always lower later.
In the meantime, if your buddy has a nice car to drive..say..oh..an M3, he or she can drive that.

Other advice? Oh yes, tell your friend never to hire Kid Rock again.

Thought about the CS, but i'm not 100% sure that I want to pay for it. It's a great car, but -- I don't know...

Oh, and Sam: the offer on the 355 was insane -- especially considering what the 'bulb actually cost!

Sam - I think Emil's "friend" wanted to be sure he didn't get caught fcar-less during this period. It looked like his "friend" might have some other "friends" who drive their Ferraris from time to time, and it's just not the same to roll with them in an M3... or any sort of Porsche, for that matter. :D

ps - Emil, you forgot to replace "I" with "my friend" in your last post. Better be careful or you'll blow your cover! :)

Of course. Ferrari 360 prices are not going to go up any further. Too late for that. All the hype of the 430 has ruined the HIGH PREMIUM market. The 360's are everywhere now a days. Lots of dealers have many of them on the showroom floor, but six months ago, that was unheard of. They have lost that specialness that they had a while back because lots of the buyers are always wanting the new thing and they know of the 430. Now all of them want that. Classic supply and demand.

Listen to the man - that's a great price!

You want a pop top on the 360?! - thats gonna be difficult to find, bc I have seen VERY FEW with them. Many 360s are on the market now though, so something might turn up. Sell the 355 NOW, use the M3 and wait for the right buy on a 360 or something better.

Jump on the reasonable offer for his car and believe me there is a boatload of 360's to choose from...The amount of them for sales in FML has literally doubled recently

If I remember correctly the 355 converts had a spike when the 360's came out. Everyone walked into the dealership drooling over the 360 and wanting to buy but settled (not in a bad way) for the 355. I hear rumors that $80K is going to be the premium on the 430's when they come out.

Stradale. Good idea. If you find one you like it'd be great to have one for awhile, and will probably hold value better than anything else through the 430 rollout.

Damn, now I want one! :) Would be nice to own something that holds value for a change... ;)

yup jeff we're talking a worldwide production of 1200 CS's vs a production of 17000 Modenas

the EC actually owns 2% of all CS's in America (using 300 as a base estimate which is what some dealers have told me)

Yeah I hadn't realized the numbers were so limited until talking with Chris last night, at which point I said he should definitely get a CS!

2% is good but I think the EC should go for 5% by year end! ;)

yup im keeping a lookout on CS's for chris already, he's gonna drive my car soon that should seal it :D

Well if you bought something that was already fully depreciated it would hold its value.... I wonder which model fits that description?
