    Hi guys & girls,

I Just wanted some feedback about a 348 Challange (street car). FOA has had one for quite sometime ($67k). It has been serviced and maintained properly. Mechanically & Interior wise the car is A+. However the paint is not so good. There has been some paint work and you can tell.

    Question 1:

How much would it cost to paint the 348 properly?

    Question 2:

Does painting the car decrease the value of the car or make it less "show-worthy"?

    Question 3:

Would a complete paint job be bargining power for this car or would I be out of line?

    Question 4:

Is $67,000 too much even if it had perfect paint?

    Thanks!

IMHO, full prep & respray by a professional who's done a Ferrari before - about $7500.

8-10k if done properly. This means stripping the body of all rubber/glass/etc
prepping properly, sanding between coats, etc.

    Not if done properly!

You could use it to discount the price for sure! Maybe not for the whole cost (say 5K?).

What is the cars mileage? When was the last major service done?
What did the last major service include? (belts, water pump, valve adjustment?).

    www.4ferrari.com has a 348 challenge/street w/24K miles at $43,500.

I'd say at $67,000 it'd have to be pretty special!

    Well, it's a 1994 with 17k miles. 3 owners.

They said that it's all up to date mechanically, and the last 30k service was done 2 years ago.

It's never been tracked or in any accidents.

$67K is crazy high for that car. Probably a solid $40K too high even if it's superb.

i disagree , i think the challenge, and speciale cars , 93 -94 have more value on the market than the others. there are, only so many out there....ive seen many go for much higher than book value . but not 67k unless it is pristine with fresh major service. i would say low 50's , needing paint and service , with a ppi checkout . that way you would have 60k invested with paint/service, and a fresh car. but if you really want it , pay more. if you want to work such a deal out that pinching pennies, maybe a ferrari is not the car you should get.... put it this way , i feel that if you spend 60k on the car, take care of it, you will have at leasta marketable 45-50k car in a year or two, it will be that much more unique... you cant have any less depreciation on a cookie cutter benz?!
