    Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has any advice or experience with genetic methylation testing? A lot of what Gary Brecka says seems to make sense and for the price of admission I figure why not. Unfortunately, the information available online is fairly scarce unless you have a medical background and willing to spend the time reading peer reviewed papers and I probably won't waste my time talking to a GP about it...

I suffer from a chronic gut illness that has been a lifelong challenge to get on top of and if there are lifestyle changes that can help then I'm all for it. I've had reasonable success with the carnivore diet however don't see this as a long term solution, especially if I want to enjoy Bottura's Cavallino restaurant next time I'm in Maranello.

If someone had a recommendation for some resources of information, Australian based clinics that are reputable and whether buccal swab kits are sufficient as opposed to blood testing I'd love to hear more!

    Cheers guys

Wit hall due and the utmost respect, but Gary Brecka has been sprouting some of the biggest nonesense a human being could ever utter regarding health and nutrition!
I mean this gentleman even claims that "strirring water in a certain direction changes the properties of that water"!
Please do yourself a favor and have a chat with someone that has a degree in nutrition as Gary surely does not have any medical background.

I'm sorry to hear about your gut issues. I have a somehow sensitive digestion as well, so I need to look out for what I eat as well. Although I would never dare to compare my minor inconveniences to yours. Problem is obviously, as you mentioned this is a tricky caveat to get under control. Diet can surely do a whole lot for you.
You might try to look at the Fodmap diet. This diet makes you eliminate every kind of 'sensitive' food and has you introduce some again over time just so you can gauge whch ones irritate you the most.

Ha! No offense taken at all, mate. I definitely take what I hear/read on the internet with a grain of salt. Just curious to know of those that may have investigated genetic deficiencies further and if results were achieved.

I certainly believe I may have a fodmap sensitivity and am using the carnivore program as an elimination diet with the intention to re-introduce foods and monitor the progress. At the very least cutting out refined sugar and processed foods has been great and probably something everyone should do.

I hope I don't come across as a 'crazy' but the gut is so complexed that I'm willing to give most things a go. Even considered stem cell therapy but figured I'd go the less prohibitively expensive avenues first. Seeing an experienced dietician is great advice so will look into that further.

Thanks so much for your reply, really appreciate it!

Pleasure to help; if I can.
Your problems are not that uncommon and thus also not so easily 'treated'.
It's most often a case of trial and error until you find some kind of 'flow' of how to avoid and incorporate certain foods.

I'd say that stemcell is the most extreme you could possible do.
There are dozens of alternatives you could look into first.
In most cases it's generally your diet that is causing these issues, but since the gut is one of the most complaex systems within the human body; there is not "1 quick simple fix".
As a start I would opt for a very extensive blood work protocol to see if you have any deficiencies or any thing that's out of the norm. After that focus on your diet and be a bit meticiulous with it. start to introduce foods 1 week at a time and perhaps even write down what happens when you start with certain foods/groups.

Cutting out refined sugar and processed fods is indeed something everyone should do for overall health. However the (social) media also like to scare the general public with statements like "this good is bad for you and this is good". It's in 99% of the case "the dosage that makes the poison". No one ever died from eating French Fries. Now eating that 2x per day for years and you do have an issue.

I hope you find that 'solution' quickly.

I recently had some friends get the lab tests from the feelgoodlab and have had great results. I just sent mine in this morning and can report backs once I get results in 2 weeks. Here is a link to their website if you're interested.

Very keen to hear your results if you're happy to share! I would have to find a place in my local country but there are lots of options available.
