I am considering buying a 1989 Mondial. It has 22,000 on it and has had the 30k maintainence. It appears to be in good shape, I have driven it. (the pedals are awfully close together!) What should I watch out for and what would a car like this be worth?
    thank you

Red convertible with Tan interior, mostly looks right to my novice eye, but there is no spare.

    Are you a car guy?

I mean, do you work on cars? Do you understand the ins and outs of engine, trans, electrical?

If so, older Ferrari's are great! But if you have to take it in for every little thing, it will cost more than the car is worth.

Also make sure you have a second driver car........because you are always tweaking the Ferrari.

Ive seen Mondials from 17,500.00 thru 55,000.00, and any where in between.

    Good luck

    Get a PPI!

no spare sounds fishy... I suspect the car has been less than perfectly cared for.

Pre-purchase inspection, it should be done at a Ferrari dealer or a good independent Ferrari mechanic. If you are looking for one, ask in one of the regional forums. Also, you could ask the people in Mondial forum if they know of the particular car you are looking at.

Also, when was the 30k service done? There is some debate, but it should be done every 3-5 years.

    Good luck in your search!

Hate to say it, fellas, but the t Cab and the t Coupe Mondials came with a can of fix-a-flat in it's own container under the tool tray. You could buy a spare as an optional extra. I don't know anyone that did. I don't have a spare and I'm not worried. I've got a cell phone...

A legacy that started with the F40! :)
