Seems like a car that had open cheque book maintenance, can’t be a bad thing. Worth pursuing. I get it sounds like a lot, but it still averages out at $8k a year in maintenance. My 360 and 430 are probably around that, maybe a bit less.

Wonder how the PPI went, but I like the work done….lots of value adds for known chronic issues and things that have to be addressed in a 15-20 year old car anyway.

Thanks to The_Dan and Shark01 for your feedback. I had the PPI done. Tires are 7 years old and while not much wear have aged out (note I knew this going in). Clutch only has 15% wear but not a surprise as it was changed about 3K miles ago. Oil pump has a very small leak. Not currently enough where any residue hits the floor but will need to be addressed. Doesn't need replacement but needs to be resealed and am told by some local service people that that should be around $2K or less. Drive belt needs replacing which is about a $500 repair. One of the highlights of the car is that it had the HTGE upgrade done by a Ferrari dealership back in 2014. This upgrade then was about $20K and the car was not advertised with this feature so for those that like the upgrade a major win. I was able to negotiate a significant discount off of the car before paying for the PPI so despite some initial costs I will have to incur, I have built in several years of maintenance fees into the price and get the upgraded HTGE package as part of the purchase. As a result, I have purchased the car and now just awaiting some work to be done and getting the car shipped. Very exciting. Personally, I want to thank the community for all of your feedback as it provided me with confidence to keep an open mind and allowed me to negotiate what I think is a great deal for this beautiful car!

    FWIW:

Find some personal problems regarding exhaust and CATs alarming as I'd think not much needed anymore on Ferrari's newer models from 2008 forward: flag to me.
But if sorted & maintained normally this should never be an issue. Many expendable as normal such as dumb sticky parts ( newer models FINALLY did away with a generation of dumb material selection), TPMS, duh, clutch even, etc. Weeping gadgets issues & shock items makes me wonder on car's owner uses.

I find this car to be much easier to own. It was a 12 year old with 12k miles but maintained well. Healthy garage queen....more like a well enjoyed debutante.
Anyway, after 3 years use it just rolled over the 50k mark. We maintain with local, respected, QUALIFIED licensed mech.

Price on OP'S example would be the ONLY factor for me. PPI helps negotiation. IF price is near less storied example then NO. IF much less, I feel, the PPI will dispell angst. HOWEVER, you'll definitely experience the LED console screen issue, so budget that. Rik

Thanks SonomaRik. To answer your question it is much less than less storied examples (i.e. over $20K less)

Well, not sure exactly what that means but qualified repairs makes me feel better moving forward. Those that dispell 'storied' examples may well pass up ability to own. Ferraristas can be, ahem, anal where not needed but then again these cars can be a word of caution ESPECIALLY 1990's examples where I feel Ferrari was having some issues. Today's newer ones, not so much. IMO.

THESE 599'S Again IMO are great

    Hello,
I don't know the current condition of the car, but it's a good thing that almost all of the major and expensive repairs on the 599 have been done beforehand. In normal use, all repairs in these areas will last you for a long time and will not cause problems again.

I bought a 599 with extensive repair history--no need to worry about what may occur--all has been repaired.

What's scarier is a Ferrari that has not been repaired.
