Advice: periodically run AC and HVAC stuff

    I recharged my AC. It vacuum tested good but was low on coolant. Mechanic said they usually see it when the car has been sitting or the AC unused, so the seals get dry and can leak.

    I realized I typically have the HVAC off. I am usually driving in nicer weather with the top off. It had probably been almost a year since I turned on the HVAC at all.

    So now, while the car is warming up, I hit the defrost setting for a bit which turns on the compressor, moves the heat valve, and moves the cabin vent selector motors to keep everything from seizing up. I think I am going to make this a habit.

    Just thought I would make the suggestion.

    Good suggestion....a very good one.

    Yes, defrost will force the AC to kick-in

    It's a good practice to keep.
