Well done Steve - congratulations. To echo what some others have said, it's so nice to read a post that just makes you smile. Reminds you what we're all here for! Joe
Congrats Steve, I hadn't heard from you since I left the List. Which car did you give up to make room for the F40?
Congrats on the purchase! Reading your post makes me anxious to get one. Oh well, I guess I will continue to wait until the right one comes along. Realistically, look how long you were looking. When are you going to be ready for some DynoJet blasts? I talked to FoS this morning and still nothing has surfaced. Steve
Road Trip to Monterey!!! Maybe we should get a group together and find out about renting the track for a day. Suppose we can find out how it handles in the snow? Great to here you finally got the F40. I know it's been on your list of things to do for a while. Can't wait to see and hear it. eric
Congrats!! I really enjoyed reading your post!! I'm happy for you! Did you had a chance to take pics of your beast? If so ..lets see it!
I simply have to agree with all the others... Congratulations!!!! Great post!!!! Great car!!!! Enjoy!!!! Pics please? Greets, Alexander
Oh ****, now you've done it, the cats out of the bag and everyone wants an F40 now and demand may go up for them, pushing my purchase further. Congrats on Enzos last masterpiece.
Wow congrats on the new car! The F40 is one of the most recognizeable supercars ever made, of course your gonna get a lot of attention Hopefully one day i'll see ya on the road, i'll be hanging out my window begging for a ride
Ok... pics on the way. Thanks for all the encouragement and advice. This car really is a dream come true. It's crazy fast, and crazy fun! After a couple more hours today (I drove it to Karate this morning and parked it in the lot of the little shopping mall... lots of crazy stares) then I took it down for emissions testing. It passed the smog test, but idled 40 RPM too high (1100 is the limit). However, the tech said "Well.. we'll just bypass that test because this is a somewhat special car..." I think I'm starting to get the hang of driving a bit better, too. I took it on a little jaunt along I-90 all the way out to North Bend today. Brakes are getting better as the new pads are getting broken in. And the turbo gauge is STARTING to make some sense... In response to a few questions: I actually like driving it around town. It's lower than my others, so I just avoid potholes (not as many here as in NY!), and drive around speed bumps. It won't be my daily grocery getter, but I won't hesitate to take it through a drive-through for some Krispy Kremes either... I didn't get rid of any of the other Ferraris. That's not a popular move with "The Wife(tm)" - but I think she's getting used to it. I asked her what she thought of it, and her reply was "I think it looks like all the others." Hahaha... silly girl. Willis: I plan on coming on a club drive Saturday! Chris P: The car came with a set of 18" Enke Mg wheels that should work when I'm ready to go to the bigger brakes. I think I'll keep the stock ones on at least until the fall. I also plan on getting the Carobu chip. SteveB: You won't want to hear this, but I've been looking for a suitable F40 for years. This deal moved quickly, because it was finally the right one (non-garage queen that was well driven and maintained and fairly priced). I'll be ready for some dyno blasts in a few weeks. Ryan: Come on - I know you're on a college budget, but when will we see pics of YOUR Ferrari? Eric: If our next road trip to Monterey is HALF as fun as our last one (3 Men - 36 Cylinders!) then I'm game any time. I don't think I'm up for another snowy pass over the Siskyous, however. The 512TR was barely managable, the F40 would be a snow plow Photos! Disclaimer: I apologize for the dirty state of the car. It was supposed to be detailed prior to shipping (having met Ron, I believe it was an unintentional oversight on his part... the dealer probably ran out of time and rushed to get the car in the trailer). It's pretty dusty and bug-covered, there's a lot of road grime behind the wheels, and the seats and interior needs some cleaning, but I'll probably get on that later this week. We had a few sun-breaks in Seattle today, so I think the pics turned out nicely. http://ferrari.stevejenkins.com/f40_deliv.html Enjoy!
Steve, I believe that pic of the car that has the Easter eggs in the trees is what people in the porn business refer to as the "money shot."
Your a very lucky man. Only two words come to mind when I look at each of those pictures. ****ing Amazing
the car looks great. don't worry bout the easter eggs though, i doubt anyone will notice, they'll be busy looking at the car. can the cops even see the dealer plates when it's sitting in the engine compartment like that?
I put the pictures on my server and included the link in my post But here it is again so you don't have to scroll back http://ferrari.stevejenkins.com/f40_deliv.html
The plates are inside the back window of the cabin, not in the engine compartment. They would melt/burn in there.
When you have the sun out, you need to take two pictures for me Steve: one of the whole house with all 5 Ferraris around the fountain, and one "Justification for a Higher Education" replica with all the cars in the garage. BTW: did you speak again this year at the conference?
congrats man, looks stunning. Enjoy. btw, can you take some nice pix of the car outside your house again in higher res? I wanted to make the 3rd delivery pic my desktop but it was a bit blurred. Thanks Chris
Steve, My 575 was on the concours truck coming up from S Barbara along with your car.Congrats!!! I do agree with you about Concours transport. The owner Fred is a gentleman and the driver Cornell, professional and charming.I will use them from now on.
