....of a private restoration this fantastic 3500GT Spyder Vignale found a new home last weekend. The former owner had it for 30 years. Over the restoration he became too old to drive it. Its one of only 2 cars from that type that came new in "British Racing Green" ("Verde Inglese"). Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well. It's nice to know that even in our frantically paced world there are those who will take the time to do a job right.
The guy was fanatic about the quality of his resto. One stitching of the leather was not straight only a little (!) bit - and so he replaced the entire leather by new material!

Love the quality of the restoration. British Racing green with black interior on a Vignale spyder ... not so much. Ivan
Its a very rare colour-combination for a Maserati. I looooved it.....(and the new owner went on his knees when he saw the car first time!)
It was a big drama when the old man had tears in his eyes, crying when he saw his baby -that he had purchased in `83 and started resto in 1993- disappeared in the new owner`s trailer! But he could not drive and handle it anymore due to a very severe surgery on his shoulder. The car was a family-"member" for all this years. But the new owner is a real enthusiast and he is the very best caretaker of it!!
I bet it was a big drama. It must have been like losing a leg considering the painstaking work and time he had devoted to this gorgeous car. Is the new owner a F-Chatter?
Too, I love the color. It looks like my old TR4, both are from Michelotti. The 3500 Vignale Spyder is a kind of TR4 for big boys! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very impressive! I hope the owner gets to drive it... unlike the previous owner. What a shame, he went through such a restoration and then became too old to drive it... a lesson for us all.
I was really amazed to find out that the old man started a photo documentary in 1993 about the rest. At that time nobody did that. Also a big file with original documents came with the car, among them the invoice of the dealer to the 1st owner of this car, chassis #101.1285
Walter, what is good news is that the car went to a similar enthusiast, as you already mentioned. One man's treasure is another man's... erm... treasure? Thanks for sharing the photos with us, definitely a unique car!
...here they are! Of course the car was sold with its original carburator filter-box. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
