3 1/2 years ? That's BS ... I'd flip it and tell them to take their reservation system and shove it.

Why would you rain on his parade? Took 35 months to get mine. Put a deposit on it long before anyone even knew what it would be. You sound like someone who has no prospect of ever getting a new one anyway.

which dealership did you go to? they are very honorable to let you have the car. I am still waiting for my f1 spider after 4+ years from autogallery.

  9. I would get a Gallardo if I had to wait 3 1/2 years for a moderetly optioned 430.

WOW, that is a long time to wait.

I really have respect for you, that you have the self control to wait for so long. I havent even seen one in real life yet, only pics and videos. They are absolutely gorgeous!! If I was able to get one, I would spec mine very similar to yours.

Enjoy it, and PLEASE take photos. So we can see your beautiful car!!

I think this last bit of waiting will feel longer than the 3 and a 1/2 years you have already waited, but from what I can see, it would have been worth the wait.

You guys sound like you've never heard of how Ferrari dealers operate. Did you guys think that all F430 have already been delivered? Who did you think the remaining cars were going to?

I know people that have been on the waiting list for 5 years for cars that weren't even conceived of when they put down their deposit. What's the shock all about?

Congrats Mark. Mine is sitting in the Port of Newark somewhere right now, and it is driving me crazy knowing it is so close. I stopped at my dealer, they just got a spider in with the new Becker unit in it. It had everything in it Nav, Bluetooth, even though it was not ordered with it. Problem was Ferrari forgot it memery card. can not get the unit from Italian to English.

    Congrats!!!

I am a fellow member of the patience club. When the F430 was announced I said "got to have it" and via a connection I found a dealer who told me if I was willing to wait I could spec the car as I want it and get it as MSRP. Well that was back in Dec of 2004 and I will be ordering the car for middle 2007 delivery. Yes I could have a car sooner, and I really don't have a terrible aversion to paying the market rate as I would say that's fair in its own way, but more to the point, I want the car speced out the way I want it, so I am willing to wait. I think my dealer respects my interest and I would think yours does too.

    Now about a 599......... :)

Please share pictures when you have them! :)

    best regards,
    Jerry

Thank you every one. Frankly, I'm surprised that some people are surprised of the 3 1/2 years of being on the waiting list. I thought that this is a normal wait for a F430. I was the third one on the list for the "new model", even when the 360 was still in production. I don't get on FerrariChat a lot, but I really thought that this was a normal wait, I guess most people have gotten their F430 sooner. Anyway, thank you very much and I will post some pictures when I receive it.

3 1/2 years seems about normal here too! There's so much crap talked about the "special people" who always get the 1st cars and never have to wait, they just pop in to the dealer and by magic a car appears a week later....and EXACTLY the spec they want!!!

I ordered and paid a deposit in Nov 02, and although I was offered a Coupe for last summer, I declined and said I'd wait for my Spider which I picked up at the end of April! You won't believe how much better it is than a 360!

I do wonder why you've bothered with the CD autochanger, the standard stereo is MP3 compatible, and since a noisy sportscar is hardly the place to appreciate the finer nuances of music, why not just download the equivalent of 12 albums on to 1 MP3?

At least you didn't buy "The Emperor's New Clothes" CC brakes!

Enjoy your car, the wait is worth it!

Congrats, but I must say you and others like you are very patient. Move to Asia if you can't stand the wait. I only waited 10 months for my 430 Spider from Tokyo dealer at MSRP and is cheaper than US or UK. And my buddy in HK only has to wait 18 months for a 430 coupe and that's his 1st one. Granted in HK price is a lot more than US & UK due to 1st registration tax.

3.5 Yrs is quite normal and not BS at all.
Why would he want to flip it, I'm sure it is his dream car.
Suggest you bugger off to a different forum as you are just trying to rain on his parade.

I don't think cig1 is calling into question the veracity of the original poster; rather he's complaining that the whole "system" is fubar that causes someone who wishes to buy a $200k car to wait for such an extended period of time. I can agree with that to a point -- if supply were eased open a little we'd all get the cars that we've been dreaming of a lot sooner ..... but the counterpoint is that maybe they'd depreciate faster once we got them ?
