would or should one even consider buying a Lambo in the near term? Balboni is definitely out of the question but what about the new Superleggera?

Roy, please feel free to chime in.........

Yes... without hesitation. But only depreciated at market value with good history / service records.

All brands have lemons. Some more / some less. These cars aren't Hondas...

The issue is how the dealer / mfg handles the warranty issues / lemons...

Yes, without hesitation. As Simon said, all manufacturers have a lemon once in a while. Normally from what I've read, owners get treated fantastically by Lamborghini. Seems to me Eric is unfortunately dealing with a bad dealer.

    Numbers are just that numbers..

Also need to take into consideration the "outlets" for the F car brand..currently with over TWICE as many retail outlets in the USA than Lamborghini...of course common sense says they will sell more apples off of their cart then the one wagon orange's seller.

I also can come up with just as a horrific story of customer neglect on a "lemon" car from Ferrari.

IMO, the point is regardless of what brand, regardless of the problem...

IF I owned a multi million dollar Exotic Franchise..I would easily EAT a $225K problem child car and take care of the situation MYSELF with my supplier (the factory) I would not let the burden fall upon my longtime customer...

After all I REPRESENT my customer, not the factory. If that was not the case then why not just have the custostmer buy direct from the factory..then yes they can deal with the from time to time headaches. BUT he is MY customer, he PAID me, he BOUGHT from me, he TRUSTED me...so it is my duty to take care of MY customer.

Also in todays age of this IMMEDIATE public display of news, the "internet" all things will be triple fold.

I for one, still enjoy the brand and will continue to do what ever I can to improve it and the joy that comes with ownership of a Lamborghini...and I sure dont need the "Factory" telling me how and when to do that and make my customers happy.

I've rarely read bad treatment by a lamborghini dealer on here, in fact, 95% of the posts are actually praising how much better they get treated by their lambo dealer than their Ferrari dealer.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why Roy is the best in the biz!

strange...i have been thinking of lambo after my 2 fcars that i still have....im getting sick of seeing 360s and 430s and 599 becoming common place and was looking towards a lambo to my next car... this has me rethinking all over again - all these brands are spoiled and have egoes... we made them that way .

Using that logic, GM should have been outselling Toyotas by a huge margin.

The problem isn't a lack of dealerships. It's the product and the price point given current economic conditions. Lamborghini's retail network is, as we all know, shrinking. I don't think doubling its size will result in more sales.

    At point of sale, possibly.

Thats easy to do. Following up with proper customer care, efficient and swift parts supply, hassle-free warranty completion, substantial trade-in values, well, that's another story.

GM does and even with the bankruptcy they still out sold Toyota by a couple hundred thousand units. http://online.wsj.com/mdc/public/page/2_3022-autosales.html

Yes Lamborghini's dealer network is shrinking, but does that have more to do with how the dealer principles conducted their business as opposed to the cars that Lamborghini produced?

It is well known that the former owner of Lamborghini Orange County (and former Lamborghini distributor) will soon be getting his Ansa probed by his new best friend Bubba. He single handedly destroyed Lamborghini's market in not only new car sales but also the late model used car market. And that timed with the onset of the current economic conditions.

There wasn't a dealer in that point for almost a year, which had previously accounted for 10% of Lamborghini's annual world wide sales.

At the same time their dealer on Long Island files for bankruptcy and the Greenwich point closes. So you now have the 2 largest markets in the world for their cars down from 3 dealers in each area to 1 in each.

You can't take cover the Metro NY and LA markets with 1 dealer in each.

I would consider the purchase of one on the looks alone.
Stunning automobiles. However, I would not buy one new.
