question for anyone that has done any aftermarket exhaust work... would you do it again? was there really any performance gains? or is it just for sound? I ask because I am thinking of doing something to the exhaust on my car... I had switzer custom exhaust on my 996tt,( but after a couple hundred miles, got very bad drone) tubi with bmc air filters on my gallardo (loved it) ... now for my f430 ...I do like the valve's, being able to keep it normal sounding when needed... so I am unsure of doing just a muffler change with remote valves? or doing new high flow cats, headers..muffler..etc... could use the cash to do something else...
so was the custom exhaust really worth it? hope to hear from all of you that did something to your exhaust systems.. even if it was changing to bmc air filters...

We definitely do less exhaust on 430's than 360's, they do sound much better stock than the 360. However, when we do do them, it is so refreshing to hear a 430 with a different voice, less guttural, more pitchy. My favorite is the Tubi, and a not to distant second is the Capristo.

Tubi was a must for my 360. Mostly for sound not extra HP.

I did not like the sound of the OEM on the F430. I swapped mine out with Fabspeed headers and Fabspeed sport exhaust. I also used Fabspeed exit pipes with no valves. Now it sounds like a Ferrari should. It's still comfortable in the cabin as far as noise/drone. I have not had the car on a dyno to see if there were any performance gains. It definitely feels like I gained more torque. If you do a DIY make sure you have time and friends with good mech skills. It took us 9 hours. Would I do another one on my own - maybe.

I have a Tubi on my 360 and love the sound! Extra HP? Maybe, Maybe not. Its the sound I love! Well worth the money in my view if you plan to keep the car.

To realize any substantive power increases, you need to increase airflow start to finish and flash your ECU. Done it. LOUD with drone, most definitely. Wouldn't do it again, even though it made a big difference on the 360. Have Tubi's on my current fcars and they sound great. I don't believe I'll ever go trying to get power from an exhaust again, but love the way Tubi has sounded on the cars I've had them on and will definitely at the least do Tubi muffler/s.

Headers on your F430 though are a safety issue as well. I wouldn't want to keep the precats, and if you do, I'd get a set of spring loaded capristo brackets for your stock exhaust as soon as possible and hope it's soon enough. At least when I was still doing the mid-eng cars that was the thinking, that the crappy brackets were causing undue stress on the headers leading to the dreaded fragmented welds.

Yes it's loud, but volume is subjective, the hardest part of my job. Same with drone. Most can agree on cars that are "drony", but almost everyone has a different take on how much there is. Bottom line, the extra volume is worth it IMO.
