    Just wanted to see what the opinions are about aftermarket warranty. This is for a new to me 07 carrera s coupe (12k miles). Factory warranty will run out soon obviously. I am hearing $2200 for a 4 year warranty that reportedly will be comparable to or more comprehensive than the cert pre owned warranty through porsche.

    i have owned 5 p-cars. most have been reliable. with lo mileage, it is not likely you will run into any expensive repairs. i have found that most extended warranties have exclusions, often involving the very item that needs repairing.

    Extended warranties are tricky so you really must read the fine print on coverages, etc. I have only used extended warranties from the manufacturer, not third parties.

    One reason to consider is for resale down the road. If you plan to keep the car for a long time then maybe disregard. But, if you will flip the car in relative short fashion then (especially to another private party), an extended warranty with some time left may be a good investment at the time of resale. It could bolster the resale price somewhat.

    thanks for the input. I don't know how long I will keep her but i am having a great time with the car. i guess i will go for it to have that extra peace of mind in case i decide to flip.
