Well,I took Junior out to Byron Dragway out in Byron,Il. (About 12 miles South of Rockford.)Today. Naturally,I had to take the Ferrari. We left early. And,We had Highway Driving from the Get Go,. Wide Open Road. No Traffic,no one else around.... Cool,Clean Crisp Air. Man was she (My Car) happy!...:) (Wife was happy to get rid of us for the day,too...:) ) 180 Miles 'Round Trip. Ride home was cruising pretty well, but a little bit more traffic. But,My car sure was happy Flying out on the open Road this Morning...:)

BTW...I haven't been to the Drag Strip for 20 something Years. Used to go to Broadway Bob's all of the time. But,today, they had Drag Racing, and the Wheel Standing Championships. Man,what a Blast! You should've seen Junior...:) His first time at the Drag Strip....

Don't get me wrong...I Love Formula One the most. But,good old fashioned,Ground Pounding,U.S.,(even the Datsun 240Z with Blown Small block Chevy...:) ), Pure,Raw Horsepower is something that just cannot be missed.

And,Man,I do miss it...Gotta get out there a little more often...:)

Frank, did you take your car out on the drag strip? I used to attend test & tune at Bryon quite a bit and their track is prepped the best. I believe they use more VHT than the other places. I used to run my old Supra there with a best run of 12.1@119 with a 2.1 60' time. This was on the stock turbos pushing high boost and street tires.

LOL! No,but it surely would have been alot of Fun,thats for sure! Yes,I've never been to that track...I always went to Union Grove,or U.S.30.(And it's been about 20 years or so...) But,this is a very nice track. Very smooth. Very well prepped,as you said. VERY Clean. And,as the cars passed, ofcourse the track got Sweet. And,they were cranking out some really great numbers. (We still have that sweet smell of Racing Fuel exhaust in our schnozzes...:) )

The event that they had today,"The 10th Annual Power Wheel Standing Championship" was awesome! "Speed TV" was there covering it. Car Craft, and Hot Rod Magazines were there. Steve "Mongo" McMichael,Rick "Cheap Trick" Nielsen,One of "Rockford's own",was there. He was also a part sponsor on a Dragster that had 2 Blown Hemi's on it....WOW! :) Broadway Bob was there. It was great!

The place was absolutely packed. They were even putting up an additional 1000 seat Grandstand all day, after just adding another 5000 "seats" this past week. They said that they weren't expecting such a huge turnout. The Traffic,(Luckily,AFTER we already arrived) Was backed up from Byron almost all the way to Rockford, they said...(?)

They also had 4 Guys on rice rockets called "Vertical Mischief" doing Wheelies,Stoppies,Riding on the Handlebars while doing wheelies, standing on the seat,etc...Pretty neat. And,Drag Bikes.

And,a guy that I know from High School ,and his family were there Racing. the "Priola's". I believe that Dad is Joe. Then,Mike, who I went to High School with. And,who was the "2000 Wheel Standing Champ". (They live in Glendale Heights) And,another brother Mark, who lives in Villa Park.

Man,it was a blast. We bailed at 4:00PM after we saw the Wheel Standing Comp. And to get the Hell out of there before Traffic...:) It was a really Fun day. And,My 7 year old son was in absolute heaven....(And,he thought the Monster Trucks were cool last Winter at Monster jam...:) )

I forgot just how much fun the Drag Strip is....definitely,will be doing it more often. And,yeah,I'll probably take the 308 for a run down the Track sometime, just for Grins...:)
