I went today to this museum for the first time and had a blast. No admission cost, but parking was $12. It was kind of crowded, but expected since it was the day after Thanksgiving and lots of travel going on.

This is the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center and can hold much larger planes than the Air and Space Museum at the National Mall.

One of the first planes you see is a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird. :) Right behind that is the Space Shuttle Enterprise, which was only used for glide testing.

A few warplanes and a look at the rafters.

    Republic P47D Thunderbolt
    Boeing B29 Superfortress Enola Gay
a shot of the group of them
    planes in the rafters

Last couple shots are just outside the building. First one is a 747-400 taken from the parking lot. Second shot is something I didn't recognize right away as I was looking through the camera, but appears to be a United 757 from what I can tell. That was taken on the way out after the parking toll booths. You can stand right at the centerline of the runway and snap pics all day. :)

I took a lot more pictures, but I think they're of the same planes. It was pretty tough to get good shots with tons of people around. I almost tripped over kids as they were running all over the place, hahah!

Thanks for the info on the museum. I know it will be on my list for next time I am in the DC area.

If you by chance walk in through the entrance along the Wall Of Honor , you might see an Av-Chatter's name on a plaque there someplace.
