I've been put on a mission. To find out exactly what year and model this came from. Could anyone help me out? And is it definitely from a Ferrari?

    Thanks in advance!

250GTE looks like it might be one possible application (although the Home Depot wing nuts that you've got aren't right):

    Go here:

    http://www.ferraridatabase.com/The_Downloads/Manuals_Owners.htm

and download "...250GTE EN 1962" pages 35 and 36. I didn't search them all (because that's your homework ;)), but typically the OMs have a decent photo of the powerplant somewhere within. That is a very crude air cleaner design, so my guess would be only very early F stuff (i.e., by the mid 60s, I think most had "snorkels" on the air box -- to convey warm air coming off the exhaust manifolds to the thermomechanical automatic choke mechanisms?).

PS Interesting that the sizes of the labels seem different...maybe the newer one is a reproduction, or labels sizes weren't so standardized in the early days...

Thank you so much for the lead! I was getting nowhere with it by clicking around on google.

No trouble, but we wouldn't mind knowing a little bit more about you since you just dropped in out of the blue with a very untypical question -- Are you (or do you work for) an F restorer? Part of an Estate? Was in the abandoned storage locker you bought at auction? ;)

My only request is that you please post the information in this thread if you do identify other F models that use this same air cleaner design.

I work for a guy who bought a few parts from an older gentleman's garage. This was kinda thrown in with it (I think? He didn't give me much info.) I will let you know if I find anything more about it and exactly what models it belongs to!

A same or similar unit was used on the 250 Lusso. I used Fram filters.

The Lusso is also looking like a good lead. We measured the openings on the bottom and they're 40mm. So we're looking at the sizes of the carburetors for the cars you all suggested. Thank you all for your help!

Follow up question: any idea what it could be worth? Since I wasn't able to find much info online, I doubt I would be able to find a price.

In the photo, notice the remnant of a small plate on the top right. On my Lusso that plate gave the engine model (#268) and 250GTL. Also, either on the underside of the top or the bottom there might be a 4-digit number stamped in the metal. That would be the serial number of the car. My Lusso had its serial number stamped darned near everywhere. I just happened to think of it.

Sorta generic 250GT/330GT. Of course the nuts are wrong.
