Hey bud havnt got around to fixing it. Drove the car this weekend AC works great but when set to 0 hot air comes out instead of shutting down & nothing coming out. Can not remember if this is normal for these cars or not. Any ideas?

    Hi,

I fixed the issue last WE.
CHecked the A/C panel first. the knobs were OK and resistance was clearly changing correctly.
THen checked the fusebox and each relay. Did some swaps and this is not the issue.

Unmont the glovebox to reach that fmous part 64280200 VALVE/SOLENOID (a PAIN to access the top bolt).

I dismanteld it, change the 2 Mosfet as explained in this thread: Fix MK2 ATC heater fan controller - XPowerForums - For MG, XPower & Motorsport Enthusiasts

    All all is good now!!!!

All is summurized on our French forum La Ventilation De L'habitacle Est Trop Forte! - Ferrari 456 - 550 Maranello - 575 M - Ferrarista - Ferrari Owners Only

Great job!! I will try to do the same next week. Did you order from euro spares? Last question ;) did it stop all leakage of air from vents when you set knob to 0?

Sorry just saw your post again and noticed you repaired it instead of replacing it! Awesome

I did not really want to order a 250€ part if I did not know it was broken or not.
So changing two 2€ a piece MOSFET I can do it even if not needed.

And yes, on zero position, no air at all. ZERO :)

If you do not want to repair, you can find it on the internet for cheaper than euro spares. If you leave in the UK, it is also a rover part. Around 120£.

Does anyone know how to get to this part? I dismantled the glove box complete as it stated in previous post but still can't seem to find it. It also mentioned that non ATC cars don't have it but have a coil. What is an ATC car? I'm stuck I have a 99 US 550. Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA

I did it on a 456. No idea where it is on the 550. Did you check on the drawings and compare 456 position and 550 one?

By the Ricambi diagrams, it looks to be in the identical location for the 550 as the 456. Whether this is true or not.....?

Where is this reference to ATC and non ATC cars? I don't find it in the WSM for the 550, nor on the Ricambi page for the parts?

Ahh, OK then. Perhaps that's something specific to their cars, not ours.

From the parts diagrams, it looks like it would be embedded in the right (passenger) side of the evaporator assembly. Perhaps Henri will point it out in your photo, or offer some advise.

How tough was it to get that dash cover off on the 550? Sounded like it was a real bear on the 456, according to Henri (and he's no novice).

Hey Bay, did you do the same job as I'm attempting? Is removing the airbag necessary? Any info would be great appreciated! Tnxs

It appears that Ferrari part #64280200 is a resistor block similar to the one in my 944 turbo (see post #16 in this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143044106-post16.html)

If that's the case, the connector contacts should be cleaned and see if that takes care of the problem before ordering a new blower regulator.

ps. John, your French is fine!

Je sais, Barry; c’était un blague, cher ami :)

J'ai fait le même remarque un fois à un Algérien ami, que son français était très bon et il a ri et a dit la même chose pour moi, "et ça d'un Américain" :)

So on the 456, it is exactly where Bernard has put a red arrow on the picture he has posted.
    On post #38

So on post 37, on your car, it looks like you have to give us a SIDE photo of the air conditioning unit, next to the black hose that is above the + thing on your picture.
This is where the DAVIA is. I can post you a picture of what you look for that could help ;)
