Air conditioning shop found in Kettering

I recently bought a 1989 412 with original R12 air conditioning and after a rudimentary web search found an air conditioning specialist called Bee Cool ACS in Kettering. They were very relaxed about dealing with the R12 connectors so I gave them a try.

They tested the system and found that it still had some gas pressure so a pressure test was redundant. They took out the old R12 and filled it with 80% weight of substitute RS-24 (R426A) gas. The original charge was 1.4 Kg and they used 1120g of gas (quite a lot by modern standards). Unsurprisingly, they only had one guy who was certified on the older systems and he, like me, was of a slightly older vintage. He turned out to the the owner and he was super-friendly and knowledgeable about the old a/c systems.

I left with the air conditioning working perfectly in front and rear and the bill was not huge. I would recommend this firm without hesitation. We will see how the pressure holds up over the coming months...
