Fed from the right side strakes air intake, there is a smaller corrugated aluminum hose that routes cool air to the front of the engine. Is this pipe supposed to be pointed down (pic 1), or straight on (pic 2/3) to more broadly cool the front bank exhaust manifold?

(This is not the alternator cooling hose, although one sees it with the alternator removed).

I am thinking to mount it straight on, and can either mount with the bracket holding the pipe a bit higher (pic 2, looks best to drict air tomore towards the exhaust header to cylinder head area?), or lower (pic 3, perhaps directing air more towards the starter?) depending on the orientation of the clamp. There is nothing in parts diagrams to indicate how this is to mount.

My goal is to mount it to direct the cooling as the engineers intended. It probably does not matter much as long as some cool air gets in and around the front bank, but still it makes sense to direct the air properly.

I went with pic # 2, the hose going straight and the clamp bolt on bottom where it is more easily accessible in the event this gets removed for access to the area in the future. I suppose as long as the cool air get to that front bank, the hose position would not make much difference. I am curious how the factory would have originally placed this pipe.
