The shop manual doesn't seem to spell it out. Can anyone provide me with a quick run down. I would imagine it's something like depressurize fuel system, undo a few pipes, and flip the thing up and out of the way, right? thank you.

While I had my injectors out of the intakes, I opened up the airbox to take a peek to check on the condition of the filters. The black polymide tubing seemed to have enough flex that I could R&R them w/o depressurizing/remove metering device or whatever. Injectors have to be out of the holes to do this.

K&N filter substitution is #33-2570 if you're interested.

    Hey blkprlz,
Thanks for the info. I see you're from the Tampa Bay area, is your 400 the red one that was getting interiror done at Tru-Fit in St.Pete a few months back?

It is obvious you have a 400i, so the procedure is very simple. Remove the inlet hose. Undo the 6 or 8 Phillips head screws and the filter housing drops down. It takes a bit of wiggle depending on which side you are on. Out comes the old and in goes the new. You don't need to touch the FI system at all. I inspected mine with a small flashlight and a mirror when I got the car last year. They needed replacing and I think it was the first job I did on the car other than checking fluids. I checked filters this winter after putting 4000 miles on them and they are still quite clean.

    Hey rebirthauto,
No on the red one, mine's Marrone/Tan(#46009). The only interior refurb I'll have to tend to is the similar driver's seat bolster wear you've got on your Testa..

Yep, that's the way it is, I almost feel silly for asking, but my ultimate goal was not only changing the filters, but moreso to see about torqueing the headers from the top, rather than the bottom.

I'll keep an eye out for you.... well i hope you drive yours.

Speaking of interiors, i've got a crew lined up to completely reskin mine, i'm thinking about two-toning it, or even as a friend of mine suggested, do the seats a la daytona (although it seems a bit over the top to me).

As far as the TR goes, the next guy can fix that GD bolster, I just put it back up on the block Sunday night.

If you're looking for one, mine is great bang for the buck.

Oh yeah, and I just ordered those K&N filters ($44 ea.), they were spec'd out for a porsche 924 turbo on the website i ordered from.

I don't blame you for that one bit, it's tight from down below!

Pretty much just on pre-sunrise/sunrise Sun. am when no one's on the road, spirited-like.

You don't know how tempted I was @ "400 + $$ = Testarossa" a few months back, if it was the 512BB I just might have jumped. Problem is I would have blown my cover in either one of those. Good deal on the K&Ns!

I tell you what, if you have a 5 speed we can talk, or better yet, why don't you just come by and take it out for a spin, once you'll run through the first 2 gears, that TR stigma you've got will pressed so far back against the back of your skull, you'll never hear from it again;)

Let me know if you're coming, and i'll get it detailed for you.

No Al, mine still in great shape, just kept the link for future reference. Also, K&N's site details the sizes of all their filters. Bruce

Roger-O on the 5 speed, a little over 26Kmi, marrone over tan. No doubt about that TR stigma, I really love the sleeper attitude the 400 has, slips between the cracks.
