Is there a trick to getting the air filter cover off of the 550? I tried to install some K&N filters today. Unscrewed the 4 screws and unclipped the 2 retaining clips, but that sucker won't budge. Tried the other side, same thing. Tried prying them off with screw driver, but no luck. If I force it anymore, the thin aluminum will probably deform.

I assume the rubber edge on the air filter element has glued itself to the cover and airbox after being clamped in there for so long. So is there a spray or something that I can use to loosen them up? Thanks for your help in advance.

Arrhhhh... a five minute job turns into pure frustration.

    Regards,

Never had the problem, but I guess WD40 or other penetrant will seep into it and loosen it.

I was hoping I can avoid a mess with WD40 everywhere. Guess not then. Will try it this weekend. Maybe I'll drive around for a while first so that the engine bay is hot and hopefully the rubber edge of filter will soften and come off easier.
