If you want "the sound" you need to remove the baffling from the airbox. You will be AMAZED at the increase in sound quality plus MUCH better breathing with this mod using the stock air filter. Do a search for "Airbox Mod" and read all about it.

I ordered my individual air cleaners from a local shop in Auburn Washington, but, I think they came from Weber/Redline? I can check on it if you want to do a similar set up. All I can say about them is that they need to be cleaned often, and they come apart super easy. Also, you will need to order the short velocity stacks from Durable One to be able to use them as the stock stacks are way too tall to fit.

I know this has been dscussed in the past but doesn't the hot air get sucked in and also the lost of the air ram effect get lost due to removing the airbox?

I'm with Birdman on the baffle removal.

Look at my response above. I think you can get them from Webber/Redline.

Can someone talk a little about the science/art of air intake? There are several issues I'm confused on.

First, it seems velocity stacks will allow dust in and wear out your pistons etc. in short order, especially on close tolerence engines like in a Ferrari. Is that a concern for you guys?

Second, in my car at least, such an arrangement leads to decreased HP. I have the air filter is a seperate metal box, then a flex hose to a large airbox that's attached to the side of my side draft carbs. The reason for this convoluted air path is my CV carbs need a nice uniform air flow to give best performance. Some people have used K&N filters with varying sucess, but the stock arrangement is really the best. Do downdraft carbs, or Webers, have a different airflow requirement?

So far all the comments are positive concerning the use of velocity stacks on a Ferrari with the Webers. So...what's the deal?
