    Do you mean the rehash of the existing 'spin' on the investigation?

    I am just so angry about this I can't see straight.

    "Let's see, we haven't found any "obvious" evidence of this particular anomaly (what ever it might be) occurring during this crash so it must not have happened, wine any one?"

    Well, it's been quiet for a week now even though more bodies have been found. No hope of the FDR being found for now so the rug is turned back and I can hear a lot of sweeping...quiet sweeping. This debacle will soon be forgotten by the public and Air France, Airbus and the French will go on their merry way. During the war we had things called Gremlins, those unseen little monsters that wreaked terrible things on airplanes and crews but were never caught. Me thinks that the French have found some.

    I think in the next weeks and months more detailed information will become available through "official" but unauthorized and un-named sources. This will not die a quiet death.

    If this were the NTSB the whole damn Navy would be down there.

    Yeah, I have a whole bookcase of books like that, they are all paperbacks by well known mystery writers.

    I truly hope that the black boxes will be located and that the NTSB issues there own rebuttal report for the accident just like they did for the GOL 737 / EMB Legacy midair over the Amazon a couple of years back.

    No matter what the French BEA finds it will have to be taken with a grain of salt as I have a feeling that they will leave out important facts like they did with the Concorde crash mot mentioning that the Left MLG was not assembled properly at the last maint. causing the A/C to rotate further down the runway than normal.

    IIRC, they think that one main gear swiveled a little out of line with the straight and narrow because of some linkage not being right...then, this was suggested for taking a little longer takeoff run and perhaps causing it to pick up the stray debris on the runway.

    Truth was, Concorde had had it commercially anyway and I wish they had ended it's era a little earlier with a perfect record.

    But if the main landing gear was tracking correctly that flight would have been airborne 1,500-2,000 feet before striking the metal strip that blew out the tire.

    If the MLG was repaired correctly the holes in the Swiss cheese would not have lined up and the accident would not have happened.

    The coulda shoulda woulda factor is too strong with this postulation..
    One would have to know the amount of misalignment, weight of the aircraft and drag created to make an informed estimation of how much sooner it would have would have left the ground.
    Maybe it would have , maybe not. There just isn't enough data to support your statement.

    The thing that had me concerned the most with that investigation was the fact that once the strip was found to have come off of a CO DC-10 the French was putting the blame firmly on them. Even taking it as far as taking them to court on Manslaughter charges.

    There were several factors that were present a long time with the Concorde before the accident.


    1. Tires blowing out on the MLG
    2. Wing fuel tanks getting breached on take off on landing.

    Just to name a couple of them.

    The Concorde was a symbol of pride for the Europeans, and laid the foundation for EADS and Airbus. I had the fortune as a child to see the Concorde fly at the Paris Airshow and also got to walk through one of the prototypes.

    And so typical of so many accidents - an unlikely Rube Goldberg-like consequence of one little thing just leading to another little inconsequent thing...until...

    Goes to show that when the Government pays for things they can go on for a long, long time without being profitable.

    I was going to say that selective dissemination of accident findings seems to be a pattern with these guys...............................as in AF447
