If the passenger airbag cover in a 456 is warped can it be repaired easily or does the whole dash need to come out?

You can pull it out separate from the dash. Four bolts. Removing the glove box may be necessary.

It appears the cover can be removed from the air bag but that scares the hell out of me.

Ok so the leather front is glued to a piece that’s riveted?
Has anyone here successfully fixed that issue?

Yes and not me. You might be able to separate the air bag from the bracket without moving the rivets. I am not willing to mess with it that much.

@pchop just had his dash done like 2 weeks ago. He has an M-GT, but just had it all apart. Ask him or see if he chimes in about the airbag covers.

Yes, all US MY95 cars had airbags. Maybe all cars by that time. 92-94 were the clean dash years

To remove the passenger airbag, the glove box needed to come out (nothing hard). Mine is still in great shape so I left it alone. Speaking to another upholstery shop, the leather on the passenger airbag is permanently glued to the assembly. You will need to heat up the glue to reupholster the leather. BUT the big issue is by US Federal Law, you are required to have the Air Bag logo in the lower corner. If you sell the car without the Airbag logo and there's an accident, you will be liable under because it wasn't properly marked. Some upholstery place has the stamp to do the Airbag logo, but most shops won't touch it due to liabilities.
