Hi all I'm near to finalising the purchase of a Challenge Stradale and whilst doing my research noticed the the service schedule requires the airbags to be replaced at 10 years. As this is a 2004 car this is imminent. Has anyone replaced their bags and is it a big/expensive job? Thanks, Peter308
I don't think anyone has done this for any car from any manufacturer - I believe the initial time frame from the airbag suppliers proved to be unnecessarily conservative
Do you not think all the car forums the world over would be full of folk whingeing about five grand bills if replacement were a requirement !
Nobody does this. Chevrolet tested an early airbag at 20 years. It functioned flawlessly. I presume you're also going to replace all the suspension bushings, the shocks, the tires, the brakes, brake pads, wheel bearings, and steering rack? If any of these fail, the airbag is moot right? And they're also wear items..
Indeed - more details here: Bianco Fuji CS Spider Project I sold it to someone who is rebuilding the car - more details here.
Extended to 15 years, not that any of us intend to change them. Nobody has data on how long they will last, but every time they check them, they are still ok. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
