Ok. I'll start my own little thread about my flying. Some seem interested, going by PMs and previously posted comments. I will consider any input by Rob, or someone on behalf of Rob, as trolling, as it's clear he would have no positive input. Let's see how that goes. I'll start with this again. It was a great day for me. Not only the first time flying as pilot in command since 1991, but also with my newly acquired RA licence. These planes are great fun. Only 100 knots, but 15l/hr is ridiculously economical. More to follow soon.
Anyone flown in to Milawa? I'm planning on dropping in there for the degustation lunch and overnight accom. Looks like it'd be great fun. Of course, I could just drive there, but **** that! https://www.brownbrothers.com.au/visit/https-www-brownbrothers-com-au-visit-airfield/
Flight to Bendigo coming up. Last one was clouded out, so all I got to do was this. Does anyone know of any "must dos" in Bendigo? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My passengers and I have these. Noise almost gone and passengers and ATC easy to hear and understand. No private pilots used these things when I got my licence!! Now, no one DOESN'T use them https://www.bose.com.au/en_au/products/headphones/aviation_headsets/a20-aviation-headset.html?mc=20_PS_A2_BO_00_GO_&gclsrc=ds#v=a20_hdst_portable_ii
Thanks. Probably not as much as I am, but yeah, thanks just the same. I'm actually staggered at the positive feedback....is it a car guy thing?
I'm not surprised at all Peter. Everybody dreams of flying a plane or being a pilot. You actually went out and did it! Huge kudos! Really well done! And let's face it, if you can do it, anybody can! Nobody has an excuse now!
Nah - its a bit more than that - but you got abundant natural skill and a great mind, so you make it look easy. I can't say you always use them for the greater good but then again, that's a subjective thing. Nonetheless, its a great feel good story Peter and says something about redemption and the human spirit. I look forward to you sharing your flying journey with us. P.S I have a good friend in the AMOC who was an ex air force pilot and actually got an OBE for his flying missions (do I sound like someone?). He would regularly take members for flights in a Mustang or Sopwith before he retired from flying. I kinda wish I knew him earlier and when he recounts his flying stories, I feel quite envious. So I applaud your achievements.
Well thanks, I think, but I promise you, it's really not that hard. In fact you need a minimum of 60 hours to get a PPL and 120 hours to get a driver's licence. I also enjoy the stories of experienced aviators.
So, has anyone done this route? If so, what time of day is best? I’d be happy to do it more than once if it’s worthwhile. Image Unavailable, Please Login Mechanics http://www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm
If I said that it might be considered trolling, so, no comment. But more than half lol Sig www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm
I have zero interest in wanting to fly. Yet I have an interest in old aircraft up until 1945. I'm a good passenger with nil fear and only see an aircraft as a means to an end and that's all.. Perhaps I'm an odd one out ........................................................don't answer that!
You, my dear friend, would absolutely love it! I think you'd make an excellent and safe pilot. Sig www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm
Good to see you're back into it again man. A work mate drives to the Curry every week (3hr round trip) to take a 1hr flying lesson as he is going for his Pilot's licence also. He's only 23 years old. $700 for the hr, plus his own fuel money in his car, costs him around $800 for the lesson each week and it will cost him around $25K to get his licence. He then wants to buy a plane after that.
