I am such a perfect consumer.... I am thinking I would like to have a travel trailer (2 adults, 2 small kids under 5). Perhaps a modern one, with all the modern A/c and microwave conveniences. I would not mind a restored one. Love the styling of the Airstreams, but they seem to start in the 30s. There are a couple on ebay, too. I would also need to pay for storage, since I do not have enough space in the Bay Area. Who around here is an Airstream (or trailer) guru? I just need a head start.
How about starting out here: I have a 1946 Ken-Skill trailer that needs refurbishment. Restored will bring $7-8K. It rolls and I will sell it for $1K. These are hot commodities when found (Good luck!). Spend a grand to refurb it and use the profit on your Airstream purchase (Which are pretty sweet trailers). Go Google this unit and you will be shocked as to the money these small trailers go for!
