Afternoon all, I've had my 458 for 4 months now and I'm looking to make it personal. I'm looking at the akrapovic exhaust system with the black tips and a remap for the engine and gearbox from super nova tuning. Does anyone have any experience with either remaps or exhaust systems?

my previous mode of transport was a Mercedes c63 and I had that tuned woth an exhaust but there is little information regarding the 458 !

We do a lot of Akra and if you do full system with Cats it comes with Delete R map box so no need to really re map the complete ECU . Shoot me email i have system in stock [email protected]

Not too much that can be done to improve the shifting on a 458. To get an F1 sound you at least need to do headers and high flow cats or catbypass pipes. There is significant power left on the table for the 458 with an exhaust and tune :)

Thanks Evan, I mean the box is quick but these guys are sure of some improvements to it. I've not yet ordered the exhaust but I think it will have to be done before we run out of summer :) I'm going to pop down a see adam at super nova tuning on Saturday for a stock rolling road run to see what she is making stock. I wish this thing had a turbo !!!

Have you looked into Novitec Rosso remap? Perhaps they can work well with the Akrapovic exhaust? No experience, just an idea. They provide a 609 hp kit (stage 1) for the 458. Looks pretty good.

Then why not have a look at what Underground Racing is doing. They do a lot of Ferrari turbo stuff with a pretty solid reputation to boot.

I've looked at novitec bits but I'm not overly keen if I'm honest, the price is horrendously expensive in comparison to others and the remap is not custom. Maybe I'm being to fussy :( I would love the underground racing turbo kit looks so much fun !

I'm off to see the guys at super nova sometime next week, maybe the weekend if this heatwave holds on, I'll see what is what and if it meets expectations.

Ah sorry Ben I seem to have missed your post. I'm not very keen on a "box" but tell me more. I work in motorsport (a1gp) and boxes to not have a great reputation.

The Akrapovic system is a great choice and you won't be disappointed. Some say its just enough sound for them and the ones who want a little more can go with the Headers & High Flow Cats.

Have you looked into any other brands as well.

As said over the weekend I would trundle down to super nova tuning, first things first I need a rolling road run to check the car is happy and give a bench mark. Then I will have the exhaust fitted and remap. As it appears not many people choose to do this on the 458 ill try and get some pictures and as much info as I possibly can so as to help others that may seek route.

the factory Ferrari 458 muffler is not the true limiting component in terms of sports car sound and power.

My company Fabspeed was the very 1st tuner to get a 458 almost 4+ years ago. We designed, engineered and Dyno developed a complete package with tuning from EVO MS for the 458. We have refined everything over the last 5 years.

1st project was Fabspeed 458 Italia equal length headers with an F1 Indycar merge collector . Fabspeed high performance headers are a direct bolt-on replacement for the factory OEM log style 458 headers. The Fabspeed 1.875" 47.5mm headers add sports car sound and power all across the RPM band.

The second development at Fabspeed for the 458 Italia was designing high flow 200 cell catalytic converters as simple bolt-on replacements for the 800 cell ceramic factory 458 cats. I utilized extremely large HJS German tri-metallic HD 200 cell Euro level 5 catalytic converters. These direct replacement bolt-on catalytic converters release additional more sports car sound and power. These engines are simply air-pumps that want to breathe and exhale as efficiently as possible.

The Fabspeed headers along with highflow race cats in conjunction with the stock 458 rear muffler really transform the car. If you want more a simple valve controller switch the 458 driver can Open & Close the OEM Ferrari rear muffler vacuum valves so you can make it sportier again.

Other Fabspeed options- we designed and Dyno developed rear Maxflo mini mufflers for light weight and more power. I also designed Ferrari Challenge Dual Outlet tips with a carbon fiber surround. I also can leave the HJS catalytic converters OUT of the mandrel bent pipes and offer 458 Italia catbypass pipes or cat delete pipes for Racers and potential Ferrari drivers that want maximum loud sports car sound.

Fabspeed headers and HJS cats or catbypass pipes will work with any stock OEM or aftermarket rear muffler.

I invite you to cruise my website for a detailed explanation Video showing you the stock OEM Ferrari 458 parts next to the Fabspeed 458 maxflo performance systems.

Sorry to bump an old thread. Joe could you comment on if a tune would help in making more power out of your parts.

OP... What did you end up going with? I'm in the same dilemma. Looking to make some more power
