I recently purchased a 550. It came with two black keys and fobs. No "Red Key" Also the small red light in the dash remains on. Do I need the "Red Key"? And how to proceed if so. Thanks.
The dash LED stays on when the car is running? That means your siren has failed. Do you need a red fob? No. The car came new with one red, two black and two keys. Adding a red will complete the car but you don’t “need” it. www.ferrarifobs.com can solve any fob problem.
One of the first things I did with my 355 was store the chirpy alarm siren in a box in my garage and unplug the dash LED. Two of the best mods you can do, and they're free.
Ha, you’re one of those guys whose work I then have to fix later. What happens when the next owner needs to add a fob and sees someone left just a hole in the dash where the alarm led used to be? He sees someone screwed with his car but doesn’t know exactly to what extent, not knowing exactly where to find that little red light to make the car right again. it’s best (and easy) to make it right and not solve one problem by creating another.
I don't think there's ever going to be a next owner of my car, but if I needed to sell, this would all be disclosed. And the LED is still in the vent, I simply unplugged it.
