I have a 1999 360 Modena. The battery went dead and I tried to jump it, unsuccessfully, with a portable battery pack. Being unable to disable the alarm system, I discovered that the alarm system fuse (5amp/ # 74) was blown. After replacing it I found that every time I turn the battery knob back on the fuse will blow. I've tried disconnecting the siren as suggested by a previous post with the same result, the fuse blows as soon as I turn turn the power back on. Does anyone have any suggestions before I resort to having it hauled to the dealer?

    Thanks.

A lock mechanism can be failing which causes the short. Identify each part of the car that locks and leave them open one at a time to verify which one is trigerring a short in the system.

Locks I can remember are below.
    Driver and passenger door
    Frunk or front trunk
    Engine trunk
    Gas door

    Goodluck.

    Yep, the above makes sense.
Other options, less likely, are a short in the wires if when you tried to jump it you melted any or the alarm ECU (all very unlikely)

And maybe a mention that jumping a battery can be disastrous. To be honest, I've heard that jumping is bad but never saw a first hand report This is proof in the pudding
