Tried searching the forum for this one to no avail... Battery was dead after car sat for 2 weeks unattended. In the process of charging it, I accidentally set the alarm off. Could not turn it off while the charger was attached no matter what I did. Eventually, I was able to disable the alarm and immobilizer using the red fob. Now, of course, the car is on a battery tender and all works normally using the red fob. Any ideas about why the black ones stopped working? Is there some way to re-program the black fob's? The batteries are fresh, so that isn't the issue. Thanks for any help! GB
OK if it's anything like lo jack fobs, the tuner may have tuned slightly out. If you can open the fob with a screw or the like, check inside and see if you see a small plastic disc with flat head top on it. You can see if you can match the good one by position if you open both OR just play with the bad one until it does something. That could get loud so take your chances
John- It is not like the fob you describe and there are no adjustments. GB- Try pinching the contacts together with the battery out so you get better contact. For the size of the contacts, the battery is heavy and being bounced around in your pocket can widen the contacts. After insertion, spin the battery to remove any surface corrosion on the contacts. After you try that if she does not work, try hitting the fob pushbutton 3 times within 10 seconds and try again. After initial programming done at the factory, there is no difference between a red and black fob. They both have individual rolling code sequences the Alarm ECU recognizes. You cannot use your red fob to do anything a black fob cannot do after the red fob PIN is initially recognized by the Alarm ECU. The Alarm ECU never uses that PIN again, unless you start the car with PIN and key alone or want to program the Alarm ECU to accept a new set of matched fobs with new PIN. Some details on fobs here you can use if you have insomnia. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ah yes battery contacts, good idea. I must have been thinking of and earlier alarm. I recall ordering a new fob from Lo Jack at least once.
