hi everybody, I am creating this thread coz the problem appears today on my car and I wonder how, You all guys, has solved it. After many electrical small problems I decided to buy the GTcarpats uptodate fusebox. I received it and start to install it ( not me in person, but my electro-mechanician..). After that point, things began problematic . Nothing works. The man told me : everything electrical has been modified in this car. We should re put the wires in some original way. At this point, it appears that everything comes from the alarm installed in the car ( by other owners). So yesterday I decided to put out the alarm and all its wirings, and continue to put the wires in original way. My mechanician proposed me to install for $150 a very simple switch ( with a plug) instead of the alarm, and NOTHING ELSE to his opinion. I said yes. But in this case, no more alarm functions as : person detection, horning, ... Just a system that cut off the ignition, with a plug. I am ok in the principle to put the car in a simple original good working shape, but I am a little bit deceived to spend money for disasemble this device, and not to have a all functions alarm. I mean later when I will go to restaurant at night with the car or something like that, I will be anxious about thief, insurance problem after thief... Sorry for long, bad english post. How did You, guys, manage the problem. Just remember I live in France and plan to spend days in spain and Italy with the car, and things are some different here than in Your "secured" places.
I would take the car to a well-known place that sells car alarms, and ask their installation technicians to trouble-shoot the problem. They might be able to correct the car's electrical problems as well as re-wire the alarm to function properly. There shouldn't be a reason to have an alarm, but not be able to use it.
