RHD 2002 360. Went to use the care today and alarm system wouldn't deactivate using the fob. Got my second fob. Same thing. Opened the door with the key and found the red LED is not lit (at all) on the panel to the right of the steering column. Can't deactivate system so car won't start.

Tried the 'emergency' procedure using the code as detailed in the manual. Still no good.

Any ideas please? I assume the red LED not being lit is a clue to the problem. Thanks. John

I am pretty sure i know what it is. Exact symptons i had.
Your siren has eaten itself from leaking batteries. It is situated under the front hood behind the carpet panel to the left at the back. You will have to remove the rear panel to get the side panel adrift to get to the siren. The good news is when it goes it blows a 5 amp fuse behind your passenger seat in the black box (1 of 3) closest to the immobiliser.
Replace that 5 amp fuse and your 360 should be good as new just wont have siren because you will have already thrown that in a river. You need to unplug siren at least, otherwise it will just blow the fuse again.
Let us know if that fixes your problem.
Cut your siren open if you are interested and it will look something like this.

Should be all green circuit board!!!

Apparantly you can buy a gm siren for 80 bucks or original ferrari from eurospares.co.uk for about 400.
I bought the ferrari original as i didnt want risk that being another problem.

    Hope this helps.[IMG]

    BRILLIANT!
Thanks so much. Exactly what is was. Checked the fuse, it had blown. Unplugged bleeper. Replaced new fuse. 360 fired back into life.
Have bleeper in hand.....going down to river! Cheers John

I thought I had the same problem today.

I can't get the car of the immobiliser (not with any of the key fobs). The indicators switch on when I enter the car (they stay on for about 2 minutes). No siren. I don't even know if there is one in my car to be honest.

    The 5A fuse is fine.

The red light on the key fobs blink when I press the key fob button. I don't know if this means that the key fob battery still has sufficient life in it. Unfortunately I do not have a new battery in the house to see if that is the problem. I measured the battery in one of the key fobs at 11.8V. The car battery is fully charged.

Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

Battery voltage at 11.8v is low. Try a new battery.

    Thanks for your response.

I will replace the key fob battery but can likely only get one after the weekend. I did put 12.4V from a regular car battery on the key fob and the car still did not react (the red light on the key fob works).

I opened the back panel under the front hood that gives access to where the siren should be. There is no siren there in my car. I switched off the kill switch under the front hood. The indicators immediately switched on for a couple of minutes after I turned the kill switch back on again. The red light to the left of the steering wheel also keeps blinking.

I am probably not the best person for this but found my 5amp fuse issue after 1 month of searching threads and trsting circuits etc.
Can you put a reader on the car? I use an 'I Carsoft' designed for my vito van but just set it to OBD READ select FIAT as there is no FERRARI and it reads both computers perfectly. Great $200 spend.
So if she will throw a code we can start to investigate and get to the bottom of it.

How common is it for the battery to fail, or is it not if but when? My car is a 2000, I wondering if I should just change now as prevent maintenance. Dennis

The best way to check is to get to your siren, loosen the 2 side bolts and lift her out to see the production date. If it is an original it will be a Robert Bosch Australia with a month year stamp. If it is original you are at the very end of its life. There a couple of threads on here on how to cut it open (as it is a sealed unit) and set up a remote battery. However this is a pretty big job for a unit that can clearly last 10 years.
My new siren was from bulgaria i think and it was still robert bosch with a stamp date of june 16 and i am unsure of whether they addressed the battery leakage problem.
Let us know if you have a look and can see what date your siren is.

Check that the inertia switch is not triggered. It shouldn't be part of the immobilizer circuitry, but it doesn't hurt to check.

My 360 fired up this morning. Definitely not at the first try, but eventually I managed to switch the alarm off.

I don't know for sure what the problem was. I exchanged the batteries between the remotes, pressed the buttons on the remotes many times (long and short), put the key in the car several times trying to start it, checked most of the fuses ... all without success until the doors suddenly reacted to another push on the remote. I've since driven the car for over 4 hours today with many stops and it has worked fine all day.

Along the way I did buy some new batteries for the remotes. I will replace the old batteries anyway.

At least I now know that I do not have an alarm siren in my car so I do not need to worry about the problem described by the OP

The nice thing about the siren module is that it chirps to indicate the arm/disarm state.
