Very embarassing: Alarm started blaring last night midway through dinner. Completely random-nobody was even near it. No high winds, booming stereos, etc...Just started going for no reason at all. We were sitting outside at a restaurant when it started going. Of course on a busy Saturday night there were well over a 100 people sitting outside and it was parked right in front of the restaurant. People were not pleased. While the alarm was going off, the lights were not flashing. I could not get it to turn off. I tried holding down the remote button, locking/unlocking the car manually, turning the car on and off, and of course swearing at it. Nothing helped. The car started just fine and out of desperation I drove off. After about 2 blocks, it finally stopped. Hasn't happened since. The alarm led is constantly lit so I know I need to replace the battery-its been that way for months now. I've never even heard the siren before. The car does not beep when arming/locking with the remote. It only flashes the lights twice to unlock, once to lock. Its an '02 360 Modena Coupe, US model. What happened? How do I prevent/fix it? Thanks in advance.
The same thing happened to me. I just drove it up to the dealer and they just let it run out of battery. Left it alone cause they said it was just the alarm battery. But mine still made the chirp sound. Then 2 weeks ago it made chirp sounds by itself and the chirp sound disappeared. I had the dealer change the battery/alarm. Back to normal. The bad thing is the alarm and battery are all one unit. I guess once the alarm battery gets weak, problems start to occur so better to change it out so to avoid these problems. Good luck
there are posts on f-chat that tell you how to replace the battery in the alarm unit... Once you do mod the first time, after that its as easy as changing a battery in a flashlight..
Yes it will be expensive if you do it the dealer way, since the siren is a sealed unit with the battery pack inside, and will be replaced at very considerable expense If you use the search facility you find a thread on the DIY fixit procedure, and even details of a forum member who will supply the batteries.
