    Did the 360C and later challenge cars come with the streetcar rediculous key fobs and factory alarms? If no what is the difference in the challenge motronic that they could turn off the alarm portion? Or???

    the 360ch did not come with an alarm system, the only key that comes with car is to lock the door...........which is kinda handy considering the lexan windows slide open with no locks.
    And there is no ignition for a key to fit.......just a hole, which we ended up putting a horn button on the pretend we had a horn. As the vehicle in question is registered for road use we also fitted a dummy handbrake to the car!.........it does nothing.

    360C comes with street car alarm module tied with engine ECU, but no key fob. So you don't have to disarm and arm the alarm in normal situations. However, if you have some problem within the alarm wiring harness due to loose connections, or if you use ECU that's not coded to the alarm, the immobilizer will cut in and you won't be able to start the car.

    Very weird. I wonder why Ferrari would saddle the 360 with extra weight and wiring for the alarm on a racecar? Based on your description the challenge alarm ECU must just have a setting to always broadcast via CAN to the motronic ECU to turn it on. But what a bad system. What happens in a race when your ECU goes down you can't swap in another ECU and race. Or if you were able to tune an ECU for 91 octane pumpgas and then another ecu for 100 racegas you would have to find a way to get the alarm to send the right signals. That is just bad if the alarm works as you say.

    Well it won't be the first time Ferrari had a bad design. 360C wiring is basically street car version. I guess Ferrari did not want to spend any money to redesign the system for such a limited production run. There are so many unused wires in the harness I'd guess you can strip out at least 5kg worth if you have the patience to go through the wiring system.

    I had the immobilizer kick in a few times during my first year racing my 360C. It was later traced to a loose connection at the alarm module plug. You can reset the alarm fault with SD2/SD3 under certain circumstances and start the engine, but you have to do it for every start which is a PITA.

    Since only one side of ECU is coded to the alarm and IIRC new ECU will code itself to the alarm code, so if you have one new or uncoded spare ECU that's not a problem other than burning a hole in the wallet.

    ECU does not matter. the 360C is hardwired to bypass the alarm system.
