Rob does it look bad / happen quickly? I'm ordering a scuderia, like Tarek, and I am unsure whether to go with the new Technical Fabric because of the problems people have with the Alcantara - any views?

Yeah, but how often can you shave it..........it will go bald at one point.

I think alcantara is an added headache which I prefer to stay away from buy ordering my Scuderia seats in technical fabric.

But fabric will wear too......... If wear is your concern, then you have no option other than leather. Alcantara will last as long as your ownership of the car i would have thought......:) and to retrim is not so expensive.

No leather on the Scuderia........I like the look of Alcantara, but I have no experience with it. Anyway, you will show me your Alcantara and your shaving technique next month ;).

"Technical fabric" is essentially nylon (plastic) based material. In fact, it's very similar, if not the same as what Tumi calls "Ballistic". I suspect it's very wear resistent.

Rob, if you were ordering from new would you go with the Alcantara again, or the new Technical Fabric? I'm finding it really hard to make my mind up!

The stuff doesn't wear as well as leather. If you want to make it last it should be protected. Seat covers etc. If you don't care then don't worry about it.

If I'm going to use seat covers, then why bother with getting Alcantara..........it defeats the purpose.

I've had alcantara in some of my other cars and I wasn't unhappy but I probably would not order it again. When I order my Scud I will spec the technical fabric. I've been wavering on the stripe or no stripe but now have decided to order the stripe.
