looking at a maserati gts that has alcantara on the seat inserts and on the steering wheel. it was originally tan, but over time appears to have gotten dirty.

can this be cleaned with satisfactory results?

can these parts be died to match the car's exterior color with satisfactory results?

The alcantara can be cleaned depending on how bad it had gotten. I have removed ink stains from a dark pen on light colored alcantara with perfect results. Dirty and matted down alcantara can be brought back as long as it has not been completely neglected.

    ok. good to know.

how about dying the steering wheel to body color? because even if you cleaned that (i actually think it is suede), it will quickly get dirty again since its where our sweaty palms are all the time.

    Gents,
I have alcantara in lieu of standard carpet. I have purchased swissvax alcantara cleaner however before I use it I wanted your insight on either this product or any other recommended alcantara cleaner/s??

I'm not sure how dying would be done but may be possible. Normally with my clients I tell hem to buy the Dr. Beasleys products to maintain the alcantara. The steering wheel, depending on how often the car is driven may need a light clean up once a week, bi weekly or once a month.

Based upon suggestions in previous FChat threads about alcantara cleaning, I use a product named Sonax Alcantara Cleaner. I am very happy with it. I wet a soft cotton cloth with tap water, then apply the Sonax (which comes out as a foam) to the cloth, then brush the alcantara. No residue, good results for me. You can get it on Amazon - search Sonax Alcantara Cleaner.

I really really like Alcantara on NEW cars.
I don't trust it for 20 years down the road assuming the texture wear is like suede leather.
    Am I wrong ?

I've had a light beige Alcantara in the past in a Volvo Wagon. Wore really well over 6 years and 75K miles. Only thing I ever needed to clean it was a good suede kit, (usually a spray cleaner, a stiff brush and what looks like an eraser). Worked really well, and we had dogs. Stains came out with the brush and eraser.

I have/had alcantara carpet in the Italia and FF and used that cleaner
and it is ok but i bought it longer ago and if my mind plays no tricks on me
the smell changed from good, to ok, to not so good...

And i always use a wet/dry vaccum cleaner and i also made good experience with
    standard glass cleaner... :)
