I think most posters on this forum are a self-selected group of enthusiasts. Many have a 4c and love it, I do, while acknowledging it is a niche car.

Nigel ("NEP") kindly posts updated monthly sales volumes for Alfa's models. I note that US 4c sales have averaged about 15/month in 2018. There's some distortion due to seasonality and May is a bit higher but I don't think this changes the conclusion. By comparison, about 1000 Guilia's are sold each month. So the raw sportscars sell at the rate of 1-2% of the sedan.

More surprising, to me, were the Stelvio's monthly numbers which seem to be about the same as the Guilia's. I know the availability of the Quadrifoglio is limited In the US (but what would this comprise, 30 percent of volume?) but the "junior" versions seem to be all over the lots so those aren't supply restricted. As I recall the composition of Porsche's sales, I think they sell about 15-20 Macans for every sedan.

    Is the Stelvio flopping?

I find that very strange. stelvio is nice truck and should outsell sedan by wide margin in usa. having said that, I just ordered a guilia since I'm tired of trucks

I think the cluster lights have always been on the euro 4C and the simplified more traditional headlights were in the USA.

Alfa's have a really limited dealer network. No way you are going to get BMW numbers when you have less than 10% the same number of dealers. I think FCA is really happy with Alfa. It's keeping older Fiat dealerships open. Seriously -- who wants a Fiat 500 now? I don't think it's been updated for 10 years.

If I remember correctly, euro spiders got the USA headlights.

I know what you mean, but if my beloved Abarth were to croak, I'd totally want to replace it with another one.

That Porsche outsells Alfa due to paucity of Alfa's dealer network is likely true but was not my point, Bob. Rather, it's the ratio of SUVs to sedans for the two brands that puzzled me. Perhaps Alfa is bought by enthusiast males and most Porsche Macans are bought by women? Or early adopters are more likely to buy the sedan so it's just a question of time? Or..?

You forget this. To most people when you say what do you drive and you answer a Porsche or MB or BMW. Like Mayor said John Q probably looks at Alfa the same way he looks at Fiat, the badge to some is a statement. And I think I want to go buy another Abarth, I miss my bug.

Was thinking the same thing with the latest Fiat news of possibly pulling out. Just turned 30k on my 2013 and would definitely upgrade to another new one with nav and the new display before they left these shores. Was hoping for a styling and interior upgrade as well as power but does not look like we will get that anytime soon.

Unfortunately my back is very limited - I can get in and out of the Scud with just a little struggle - but the Scud does not have a deep tub to put u lower - later years problems from a year of combat - but I don't mind the back - hey it was 50 years ago - I can't believe I lived to own 5 Ferraris, two Maseratis, Lotus and other assorted interesting toys but best of all a smart and god looking old lady - its only a term I can use because I'm 15 years older Image Unavailable, Please Login

Sorry to hear that! Yes, if getting out of Scud is a problem the 4c is out of the question.

But the first time I sat in a 4c and tried to get out I said to myself "no freakin' way!". Then you figure out the system to pull yourself out and its not too bad. What does make it difficult is if there is another car parked near the driver door. That's the biggest problem of all because the 4c door is REALLY WIDE when it's fully extended.

Good problem to have - the funny thing is that once I'm in a car I am fine - no pain -I'm an amateur driver who's had the opportunity to run some fun cars on great tracks with some good schools - anyway have a blast with your 4c
