anybody who signed up gotten the letter yet? i got a 'checking your pulse' letter this week, but no news abotu whne where etc. anybody know?
In Italy, the "chosen ones" got their confirmation letter in late July/early August, and will sign the contract in September/October.
ok, i got my letter. later than the rest of you apparently so maybe a few people flaked before they got to me.... in any case, i now have the option apparently. of course with the world falling apart now, maybe it isnt such a great idea anymore...
ok, so they tell me there will be only 500 cabrios and 500 coupes....so i sign up and now get the approval letter...then i find out they plan to make an even better one called the gta, 100 coupes and 100 cabrios more....not so ltd anymore after all...i think i might just tell them to put my name down for the gta cabrio instead !
in case any of you are unfamiliar with what the car looks like... http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2008-alfa-romeo-8c-spider/649684/
Dude, Mr. G. got the first one into the USA.... I say "go for it"....you set to weather the storm currently? He seems to be seeing the blue sky ahead on the othe side..... I think it's a nice addition to any Italian collection, myself...I'll probably blow $10K on an old Spyder someday. They still look good going down the road.....
I personally think the car is beautiful. Not to mention with the limited production I dont forsee you losing alot of money on the car!
Not in that pearl white though....LOL! A heavy metal flake red 'pops' the lines best! Or some other vibrant color, drop tops are not about a "low key entry".....IMO
and what is the difference between the Alfa 8C, Maserati Granturismo and the Ferrari California besides a badge.
well the 8c cabrio will only be made 500 times. (until they come out with another 100 of the gta version). ditto for the coupe. which brings the total run to 1200. this should be relatively few vs the other two cars you mentioned. but, the price tag is high (reckon $265k), and it is an alfa, not a maserati and not a ferrari (despite basically carrying a 430 engine with a different crank).
I agree with ross here, it's no way comparable to the other cars, different price spectrum altogether and as he points out limited availabilty...
Lots of expensive structural carbon fibre. Makes the car much lighter than the other 2. Stunning looking car. I would love to swap my SZ for the 8C coupe.
