I think the Alfa has to go to make room in the garage for another Ferrari !

My extremely over-restored and souped up 74 Spider is up for sale. Is it perfect? Nah. But after 12 years it is time to move on.

It is located in the SF Bay area, CA. I threw it to the Ebay clowns for a no reserve auction. It starts at $650. The market will tell me what it is worth.

Looks like a great car! What is going to take its spot?

    Several options for a replacement:
-348, but it is a $ stretch. I hate to buy toys with a home equity line.
-a red QV 308 should be possible as a cash purchase in a few months
-a Maser coupe if a business deal I am working on goes through

For now...cleaning farage, staging garage sales, etc...

    I WISH!

    ...oh bother.

I would rather buy a helicopter and take lessons, really, everytime I have to make a drop off at one of the offices in Torrance I park up by the heli practice pad and sit on my bumper :) and watch and wave to the pilots and their students...thank god they can't see from the distance my droolling. ;(

Well I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too, but I'm still working on that recipe :)

I have an ispirational quote from my mother by Sir Winston Churchill and it goes like this..."never ... never... never give up!" I live by this and hope!

    Sorry to hear that.

Winston was a wise man (albeit a bit of a drunk) I have a bookmark that says the same. Keep on....

"Never give in, never give in,
    never, never, never, never -
    in nothing, great or small,
    large or petty -
    never give in
except to convictions of honour and good sense!"

    Winston S. Churchill
Address to the boys of Harrow School, 29 October 1941

I am an enthusiastic Alfa (and Churchill*) fan. I had a 71 Alfa Spider and a 68 1300 GT and they are as much fun per dollar as ANYTHING on the road. Looks like a truly terrific car, especially with the Weber conversion - I did that to my 1750 as well.
Would also agree that learning how to fly, however you can, is the best money spent on anything. Anything.
Cannot go wrong with a good Alfa and dang near any kind of aircraft.

    * there is a great new chronological collection of Churchill's best speecehes collected by his grandson (also named Winston Churchill) that I would HIGHLY recommend, coincidentally titled "Never Give In!"

I am not sure what it is. Probably not velour. I got my as% burnt on the vinyl one time too many, so when it came time to redo the interior I asked for a nice gray/black fabric. The backs and sides of teh seats are still in vinyl. It looks quite nice, really.
My wife drives the Spider, whereas she does not come near the 250 (starting the thing is an initiation ritual, she says.
..There is something to be said about a woman behind the wheel of a sports car. Nice sunglasses and a Jackie O head scarf thingie do more for me than a woman in a bikini laying on the hood. But it could be just me....

Yes she is very correct. Marci was stopped in her Spyder at a red light on a nice sunny day. She was flipping her hair and not paying attention and looked up to see the light turn red again. The guy behind her also waited through the light without ever honking or simply going around her.
