Really! I guess Europe only, though? I stared at that car for HOURS -- It is such a classically beautiful car! I wish it were a lightweight, 2400 lb car with a high revving two and half liter engine

 

Although I am sure they are sold out, what price was asked for the new 8C?
Could I go into a German Alfa place and lay down some money?

Alfa 8c Competizione in origin was developed to use a supercharged version of the Ferrari origin 4.3V8 of Maserati, the aspirated Maserati V8 is good for 400hp and 451nm this supercharged "Compressore" version could be good for 20-25% more horsepower and almost 30% more torque than the aspirated V8.Last month there were also some rumours that in order to limit cost could be used the aspirated 490hp V8 of F430 if Ferrari gives the green light.
8c Competizione has carbon fibre monocoque chassis and also a carbon fibre body.The car weights with liquids with the supercharged V8 around 1500kgr if they finally prefere the aspirated F430 engine the weight will be limited to around 1400kgr.The advantage to use the compressor is the esclusivity of this engine and the torque, disadvantage is the cost to develop this engine and the weight of the compressor and the fact that Alfa has to use the high cost transmission of 575/612 in order to cover the torque of the V8 compressor, in the other part the advantage to use the Ferrari V8 is that is ready it's compatible with the Maserati Coupe'/Spyder/4porte transaxle transmission that cost a fraction and has a limited weight and a better power to weight ratio than the compressor the disadvantage is only that has less torque than the compressor.
The cost of the car should be around 120.000 euros without taxes that means a retail price of 144.000 euros in Italy a price in line with Gallardo or F430....but we have to consider that would be the only car in this segment that offers carbon fibre monocoque and body solution that we find till today only in cars like SLR McLaren Carrera GT Enzo Ferrari.
If finally the car enters in production will be produced in 1000-1500 cars pro annum.

Italiaspeed is wrong about the GTV-Spider successor the real successor will be FWD/AWD more powerfull engines will be only AWD, entry level fours only FWD the car is almost identical to the Brera concept and is in fact the production version of Italdesign Brera but with mechanics derived from Alfa Romeo project "939" 156 replacement, the code of the coupe' and spider project is not "939C" as Italiaspeed says but "94...The Brera coupe' GTV replacement will have 3 engines a 265hp 3.2V6 a 300hp 3.6V6 and a GTA version good for 400hp, the spider will use a 2.2lt four good for 190hp that will be exclusively FWD a 265hp 3.2V6 and a 400hp GTA both combined with AWD.

 

I wish the car were lighter and smaller. Perhaps a destroked 360 engine with a 9500 rpm redline and about 380 hp
