    Great pictures!!!!

I'm very curious about one picture - the one with the modern Alfa Spider and the 166 sedan. How do you get these cars to be road-legal in the USA? I just sold my GTV 3.0 V6 today, very regrettably, in view of my move to Chicago soon. But if I can get one legally in the US, I'll buy another!!

You should have kept it and brought it with you!!
It is possible to import one for yourself, but you can't resell it.
Those 2 new Alfa's are proof!! We also have atleast 2 156's in the Illinois/Wisconsin area.

They are cool, but they don't handle as well as some of the lighter Alfa's. More of a touring car. Plus it has a small V8,
so its no rocket and Mechanical costs are atleast up to a rare Ferrari's !!
The red one in the photos with stock wheels was superb.

Well, you know the cost of importing it and the cost of re-exporting it when eventually I return to Europe would have been higher than its value!

On the subject of the Montreal, you correctly mention that they don't handle so well, but there are several handling packages available that truly transform this great GT into the car it should always have been. The fundamentals are good - what it needs is a new springs/shocks/anti rollbar package. Just surf the web with "Montreal handling kit" and you will find some very good ones. I know someone whose Montreal is "kitted out" with a handling package, and he always drives it at the Nurburgring and other German tracks in amateur racing: it's unbeatable!

As for the performance, the Euro-spec Montreal (genuine 200HP) was measured by "Quattroruote" magazine in 1973 at 7.1s on the 0-62 mph, with a quarter mile in 14.5s. Not bad at all, and at least on a par with small Ferraris of the same era, such as the Dino. Top speed was measured at 224 Km/h (exactly 140 mph - not bad I would say!).

And this was with 1973 tires and 1973 fuel... a well-tuned Montreal running today on Shell V-Power and on modern tire compounds (without changing the original wheels, just using modern tires of the original size) would probably go sub-7 seconds on the 0-60. Hardly a slow car! Or were the US-spec Montreals "emasculated" to meet emissions regulations, perhaps?

The Montreal is a nice car. All Alfa Montreal's in North America are grey market. I understand less than 50 are in N.A.

OK, so if they are grey market they should all be Euro-spec with genuine 200 HP. I am sure that a well-tuned Montreal running on Shell V-Power will be a good match for the straight-line performance of many early '70s American muscle cars (except for the obvious top models). And if you sort out the handling with a kit (try http://www.classicalfa.com/shop/prod1649.htm for example), most muscle cars won't be able to follow it into the corners, either.

This Montreal was at the Autobahn event during the convention and ran some pretty fast times. The car was lowered with heavy duty springs and shocks, and the brakes were upgraded with Willwood calipers. It pulled my GTV6 on the straights and really outbraked me in the corners. It was good to see the owner driving it the way it was meant to.

I dont know if you are in Chicago yet, but you might want to stop up by Reina in Milwaukee....They own these cars and they are Alfa dealers. They have another 155 that is not shown here. All I believe are for sale.

Yes that is a Fulvia Zagato. The owner of that car has 2 or 3 Fulvia Zagato's.
