I'm considering taking the plunge on a 164. Not that there expensive. But certainly can be expensive to maintain. We'll see.

I'm an Alfisti for 35 years+, but have ZERO interest in anything post 105/106 series cars..except for the new 156GTA, which sadly isn't available in the US...

    Once an Alfisti, always....

    1971 1750 Spider
    1968 1300GT Jr.

If it were available I'd sell the farm to get an 8C Competizione and be done.

With FIAT's current financial condition I would not hold my breath. I would give you 10 to 1 against their return ever at this point.

I think that Alfa will return, assuming that Montezemula can work his magic at FIAT as he has done at Ferrari/Maserati.

    Here's some thoughts:

1)Build quality, Build quality and Build quality! Nice paint, solid doors, body panels that line up are not too much to ask in this day of laser guided welding machines.

2)Absolutely no 4 cylinder models, only big sixes (3.5L). Americans can afford the gas. V-8s encroach on Maseratis territory. Using one engine, at least initially, keeps it simple.

    3) Rear wheel drive or four wheel drive.

    4) Free maintenance a la Audi and BMW. This is important as you want quality right from day one and to build confidence in the cars. To this end, use as many Bosch sourced components as possible since they are in good supply; use chain driven camshafts (screw the belts), 100,000 mile sparkplugs, etc. Theoretically, the dealer should basically be doing oil and filter changes if the car is done right.

If any of our Euro friends know where and when an Alfa 8C will be for sale let me know. That is the one car ever I'd figure a way to bring to the New World for a lifetime keeper. While perhaps an extreme opinion, I find the 8C is much classier and classic than any current modern Ferrari or Porsche for the last many years.

definately agree, apparently it will produced to a limited run of 1000 models and people are putting deposits already.the engine wil most likely be a supercharged maserati v8,

Got the GTV 6 up on jacks right now in the garage. Fun stuff. But the point is that it's not too bad for a first car.

    2 GTV 's ('82 and '83) both 2.0 L
Great cars, next one will be a GTV6, a '77 spider or a 1750 Bertone.

Here is a pic of my '82 GTV at the Ferrari factory in Maranello.

My daily driver is a 95 164 Quadrifoglio. One of less that 100 quads in North America. 114k and still going strong.

IIRC, I thought there were only 39 in the US. Probably less now, since I believe a few have been wrecked.

Dom I've heard as few as 30 95's and 67 94's, but I don't have any solid numbers form ARDONA or Alfa. I'm currently gathering info to create a registry and I have accounted for 34 quads so far including 4 that are no longer on the road.
