Anyone owned one or done some significant time behind the wheel? Specifically the 147 and 147GTA over the last few years. Just after some impressions, info etc. Thanks
never owned one, a mate of one had a 147 selespeed, ran strong for 6 years. besides regular services it was all good. another one had a GTA, was in the work shop twice a month for all sorts of things. then another mate had a V6 spider, same thing, mostly electronics issues.
Good mate of mine has a 147GTA from new. His wife drives it to work most of the time, but I have taken it through the hills a fair bit. Very nice car, really nice handling. Feels flat and smooth through the corners. Although it can understeer a fair bit if on power and turning. Pretty thirsty on fuel even with placid driving. Fit and finish on his is perfect, really nice and comfortable to sit in for long drives, he has the all black leather. Hasnt had many problems with it, but its only up to about 10,000kms after 3 years All problems aside I would recommend the car.
Thanks for that insight! I've had a few GTA's and drove one day to day for 6 months. No issues, but was near new. Worst thing was the terrible turning circle. Great sound and good grunt, also a nice gearbox and brakes. Nothing like an Evo though Dingo. Looks great! Yeah I know it'd be alot different from the Evo, but the type of driving I do these days I cant really exploit the Evos performance anyway....not to mention its too risky. Oh and I want to buy a Ducati early next year, so buying a cheaper car will help with that.
Buy my 996 SPS- I have a few toys coming this year, might be persuaded to make some room in the garage.
My other half has the Alfa GT, same engine as the GTA but different body, 3.2 v6 with the 6 spd Rediculolusly expensive for what it was new, but a nice little package especially with black and red leather we ordered. Done a bit over 30 000 k's in it and never had any problems with it, only things you face is belts need to be done every 60 k's Really quick car, beautiful gearbox but has way to much torque steer and turning circle is absolutely pathetic, you cant even do a u-turn in a major intersection. Fit and finish isnt what you expect for the amount of money you pay for new, but they're value for money on the second hand market. We had the standard Alfa 147 with the selespeed before that and it sold within the first week of advertising, again never had a problem with it but you must have it serviced as per intervals. I think Alfa have definitely overcome the electical and rust gremlins of the 80's , wouldnt hesitate to buy another one when time for the GT is up
My uncle has a 147 Selespeed, mainly good, but sometimes it cuts out when turning, Dixon's or Ateco have NFI how to fix it, "software issue" still the same to this day... Italians don't do autos, better just get a manual. You can buy a 2nd handie 147GTA for $20k, amazing bang-for-buck Ciao M
Wallypower 118 the best, at least a generation ahead of anything else.... Ciao M http://www.wally.com/jumpch.asp?idChannel=44&idUser=0&attivo=2 Made In Italy of course! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry mate, don't do boats/ships at all. As exciting as watching paint dry whilst burning a pile $100 notes.
