This rumor has been around for years. I don't see what Audi has to gain.

I've always tried to avoid trying to figure out what Ferdinand Piëch is thinking :)

If true, it would screw Fiat dealers. Audi should sell Alfa's at Audi dealers, not little "Fiat studios" as they call them.

If this really does happen, you will be able to hear the Fiat dealers screaming into deep space.

Sergio had the Fiat/Chrysler dealers build stand alone stores with the promise that Alfa would follow...............if that doesn't happen, look out!

probably should have mentioned that this is probably being driven more by Fiat's need for cash to shore up Fiat in Europe rather than Ferdinand's desire to own Alfa

but Piech's ego is as large as they come, and he usually gets what he wants

I highly doubt this is true as the production plans for Alfa have already been started. They would almost have to sell Maserati along with Alfa now as they are both so tied together.

 Maserati and Alfa badged Audis?

Isn't a German Lamborghini bad enough already?

I personally think they've done a good job with Lamborghini.
Don't know that they could have survived without the help of Audi
Lambos have always been outrageous & in your face. They still are IMHO

A good job and the best job are two different things.

if Alfa fails to be profitable or of other benefit to Fiat, I can see that happening, the Porsche/Audi/VW super power needs diversity to keep it's empire going! :D

true, but they had others try and fail : Chrysler and independent investors at various times
like pouring $$ into a black hole
there is always room for improvement
i'm just glad they're still around to shake things up
the supercar/exotic car arena wouldn't be the same without Lamborghini

Agreed but it's just not the same thing any more. Some of that is just the passage of time as well. I've driven one of the late Gallardos a bit and that was a lot of fun. I've only ridden in the Murcie. God that thing is huge.

No question that the cars are better built but then every companies cars are better built these days.
